    Smile My Frugal Day

Well, I work Friday afternoons, so I run errands in the morning. Here's how my day went:

Went to Walgreens and bought Revlon nail polish. First, it was on sale for 4.49 instead of 4.99. Then I had a $2.00 coupon, so I paid 2.49. then I have a full refund for it. Total money back: -2.00 (after rebate).

Next, on to the Dollar Tree. I bought shower cleaner (3 bottles) for 3.00. I was going to get cash back to give the DSs their allowances. However, the store charges a buck--NO WAY. Money saved: 1:00 fee plus about 3.58 (the cleaner is about 2.19 in the stores).

Went to Rite Aid and bought more Revlon polish. It was on sale for 3.99 (instead of 4.79) and had a 1.00 coupon, and there is a $2.00 rebate on it. So, I got more polish for .99!

Splurged on a sandwich out for lunch. Paid 5.35 for my sub because of a $1.00 off coupon. bought my chips at the grocery on sale for 2.50 for a big bag instead of 3.79 at the sub shop. I also bought a 2L bottle of diet pop at the grocery store for .79 instead of 1.99 for a large pop at the sub shop. Saved 3.58 over buying everything at the sub shop. Plus, I had extra pop and chips at home for later.

DH and I went out for dinner. I used a $10.00 off coupon for dinner. Including the tip, the total was 21.00. Then I got subs for DSs as a bribe so they would let us have a bit of time together and so they would do some chores for me. Had a card that lets me get 1 sub and two pops, get another sub free. Saved 3.97.

So, I know I could have done better in eating at home, but this is our once a month treat. However, if I had paid full price, I would have spent waaay more:

    Revlon polish (at Walgreens) 4.79

Revlon polish (at Rite Aid) 4.99

    Shower cleaner 6.57

    Chips 3.79

Pop (cup at sub shop--1.29, national brand, 1.89)

    Sandwich 6.35

Dinner for DH and me 31.95

    Dinner for DSs 15.08

Total I would have spent: 75.41

    Actual amount spent:41.76
