Default Has the price of potatoes come down?

I know we had a thread a while back about how much potatoes had gone up. Has the price come down in your area with the new harvest?

They had gone up to 4.99 for the cheapest in 10lb bags here. The last two weeks I got them for 3.99 and today I got two 10lb bags for 2.98 each!

Have you gotten any other good deals lately? I know they are few and far between!

    I've gotten

24 cans of kidney beans 3/1.00

24 cans of tuna .69 each

    2 gallons of 2% milk 2.88 each

Hudson Cream flour 1.98 for 5lbs. I bought three bags of Self Rising

Potatoes are the same price around here. I just stopped buying the large bag because we weren't eating many potatoes. I make mashed potatoes about once or twice every two weeks and then I make stew once, so I go through only a 5lb bag every two weeks. The 5lb bag of yellow potatoes I get is at about 3.48 per bag.

Yippee! I was just talking to DH about getting some apples in the freezer.

I haven't noticed potatoes going down, but I haven't been shopping for them either. With just DH and I here we take forever to go through just a 5 lb. bag. We're rice people for the most part.

I paid $6.48 for a ten pound bag on Saturday. I was joking with the cashier and said that if prices didn't come down it looked like it was going to be beans and taters and taters and beans this winter. She said that from the look of the price of potatoes it looked more like beans and beans. LOL

I haven't noticed a decrease yet. I'm not sure if I ever have (in year's past).

My local Krogers had a sale on Ohio grown potatoes last week. They had 5 lb bags for 1.48! I bought 3 bags. I use a lot of potatoes.

They seem to be about the same price here... We haven't gotten any lately... I'd sure like a sale on 'em! I want to make some split pea soup with potatoes in it.

The regular grocery stores here are still on the expensive side, but I did notice that our local mom&pop grocery (that only sells regional, in season produce) has 10lb bags of potatoes for $2.99 and cabbage for $0.38/lb. So at least there the prices are dropping a bit.

Our potatoes have been $2.50 for a ten pound bag for months now. We didn't see an increase when others did.

Same here. I was shocked at some of the prices a few members here posted in the other thread on how expensive they had gotten. I mean utterly shocked. Ours never increased like that at all. At most I pay $3.88 for a 10lb bag. Just recently our grocery store had 5 lb bags on sale for $1 a bag.
