My kids think I am nuts
So the other day I bought Charmen toliet paper on sale with coupons and hubby was not happy. We always get the 1 ply uncomfy store brand toliet paper b/c with the kids it seems to last longer. So I implimented a new rule
2 sheets for pee 3 for poop and if the toliet paper disappears to fast then I will lock up the toliet paper and they will have to ask for some each time they go.
Then today I offically turned the heat on during the day. Granted only up to 64 but still it is now kicking on during the day and not just at night. So I implemented another new rule. If they open any windows or leave the door open when they go outside I will SHUT off the heat for the whole winter.
OMG today was so funny Ray ray(5 yrs old) went poop and comes out with a huge smile and says Mom guess what I only used 3 sheets of paper and my butt is clean. Want to see.LOL
Autumn our notorious 20 minute shower taker was in and out of the shower in 3 minutes totally freaking that she would have to take a cold shower.(after 5 minutes I shut off the hot water)
Ray ray took 6 minutes but after 5 we shut off the hot water poor boy was in tears but it showed them we went business.
Hubby though takes the cake at dinner tonight he tells the kids Mom has decided to save us money so you better go potty in school and not at home. Hehe poor Emma(3 yrs old) looks at him with tears in her eyes and says but Daddy I go to Mommy school at home when can I go potty. LOL
My kids are scared to use any power

Eh gads... I grew up with the 'measured toilet paper rule'. I hated it and ended up spending my own money on toilet paper because, there are times when 2 or 3 sheets just isn't enough.
I'm glad my parents never thought to shut the hot water off if I took more than 5 minutes. There were times I had a deep conditioner in my hair. (I would shut the water off and shave my legs during that time, but I was still technically IN the shower for about 15 minutes)
I can just imagine a sitcom doing the dinner scene
Poor Emma!
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

When the boys were little, I bought cheap tissues (kleenex). It was easier for them to not use a ton that way since only one tissue comes out at a time.

We always buy charmin (preferably extra strong). because it's better tp, we use less. Most times 3 is enough for #2. My guys have clogged up the toilet w/ 2 much tp. uuggghhh. The only bad thing about charmin is now their coupons are for $1 off 2 packs!! ggrrrr

Wow I wish a Kmart was closer around here.
Thanks for the heads up that 3 should be good for number 2.
Hubby is a plumber and swears the flusable wet wipes are evil(he has pulled a ton out of lines)so we can't use those, then another brand is evil b/c it clogs up too many toliets, then another brand is evil b/c the kids go thru it like water. Drives me nuts
So by limiting the sheets the hubby is happy

I had tears I was laughing so hard. My DD4 the other day starting freaking out and crying at my DH because he had given her to much.
Mommy said to only use a little bit and that is way to much. When I got home from work my DH asked what I had said to the poor child to make her flip out.Katy

You could solve the problem altogether by switching to family cloth, if at least only for #1

Of course, you would probably discover a whole new level of "are you crazy?" looks from family members.

Awww....I really hate to jump in with a negative comment but I think if my children were in fear of toilet paper to the point of tears (especially the 3 year old), I would think I had gone too far. I do believe in teaching economy but somehow the fear of losing heat for the winter and having to ask for toilet paper would make for neurotic children instead of home being a comfort to them.....sorry!

If it works for your family, great!
I too have to agree with Cristi though... For me and my (future) family, that would be a too extreme.
But if your kids are really wasteful, I suppose it'd work for a short time to teach them a lesson. Every family is different.

I have not had to limit use of TP. I buy TP that they don't like much LOL. It does seem to last a while. With 3 of us, we don't even use a 4pk a week. I have been buying it at Dollar Tree. We also are sometimes given hospital TP from an aunt that works cleaning hospital rooms. They really don't like that stuff - but if we run out, at least it's something.

Mine can use all the TP they want. I'd rather they clean themselves carefully then have to clean it up myself later (in the laundry).

I think consequences should be realistic, so that they know you are serious. If someone told me that if I forgot and left the door open that they would shut the heat off for the winter I would know right away that that was an empty threat. I hope it was all a big joke at the table.

My feelings exactly. But to each his/her own, every family's situation is different.Awww....I really hate to jump in with a negative comment but I think if my children were in fear of toilet paper to the point of tears (especially the 3 year old), I would think I had gone too far.
