    Default trying something new

It's time to tighten up, and try something new in my frugality/life efforts. somewhere on here i read to shop every two weeks.

I have been complaining to friends that I don't have a life, and my chores/caring for the house take all my time. Shopping is something that takes 2-3 hours every weekend, so last week I decided to shop every two weeks. This has freed up sunday mornings.

i planned two weeks of meals. and how to feed myself, cat, bird, and the house-rabbits for two weeks and then i went. I saved 30 dollars. i froze the milk, bread and lunchmeat.

huh, it works. we'll see at the end of two weeks.

Also, since i was complaining to friends that i don't have a life I am going back to something i used to do a long time ago, once chore/one room cleaning a day. it's exhausting (i fall into bed at night) but has freed up my saturdays.

I also addressed my lack of energy. Post divorce, grieving, I felt rather "dull" before. I discovered by accident that sunny delight makes me full of energy. I have been doing my exercise tapes. i have been sewing. creativity is back. It feels good to feel good.

freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Sounds kind of like where I am in my life. I have gone from being a super busy mom to lots of littles and now suddenly find that somewhere along the line I am much less busy two are in school all day and the younger two are much more self-sufficient so I have been feeling a bit lost and have decided that it is time to jump start myself a bit. So back to exercising, volunteering, enjoying my creative outlets etc I m entering a new phase of life and I want to enjoy it!

    Well good for you!

I shop about every two weeks now instead of once a month and I like it better!

I do most of my major housework on Sundays when dh takes dd to his Moms. I have the house Monday-Friday from 8 to 4 but somehow Sunday really is my "get ready for the week" day.

As for Sunny D too much gives me heartburn lol!

ladykemma2, sounds like you need to change your "status" to "kick a$$"

I feel your pain. I live alone, work full time, and also trying to keep my hobby farm up and running (30 goats, three donkeys, a couple of dozen chickens, dogs, birds, fish, you name it). For the last seven weeks or so, I've been stuck on a project at work that keeps me in the office for about 10-12 hours per day, with a one-hour commute on both ends. It takes me all day on Saturday just to re-energize, then I'm looking at a mountain of tasks on Sunday, just to start back up at work again on Monday!

I may have to try that Sunny D (although at this rate, I might have to actually bathe in it to get enough energy to function)!

I am so glad you are feeling a little better. Next try some juices ( made with a juicer for the enzymes) like carrot, spinach apple or fruit smoothies with mango, blueberries or frozen strawberries they will give you tons of energy also.

I have stocked up my whole foods pantry for about 9 months worth and now just shop the sales for the loss leaders, coupons sales ( of what I use of them toiletries etc), some meat on sale , milk and fresh produce as needed and saves me so much time. I cook mostly from scratch for health and that takes a lot of my time on weekends.

yeah i teach high school and work 10-12 hour days. typical day: up at 4 am, pack lunch, make breakfast, eat in car, school by 5:15 am

prep class, teach all day, meetings, home by 3:30 or 4:30 at the latest. cook, eat, chore, exercise tape, shower, bed at 8 pm.

i used to be an a coma on saturdays. i kept a personal sabbath, friday sundown to saturday sundown, just to get some rest. i used to do the chores on saturday.

This has to stop-- my friends are drifting away. hence the reason for the change.
