    Default Bed warmer ideas

I'm looking for ideas to keep my bed warmer this winter, and was wondering what everyone else has tried.

Please let me know your ideas and what has worked for you. So far some ideas I've read are: electric blankets, electric mattress pad, I read about an electric foot warmer (which is basically just a small blanket for just down by your feet), and various bed warmers that you heat in the microwave and then put in the foot of your bed (I saw ones made with cherry pits and various other fillers).

Has anyone tried any of these ideas?

I also came across a device used to heat pet beds, but it seems like it has human uses as well. It says it will keep the warmth for 8+ hours and I wonder if anyone has tried it? It's called "snuggle safe"...here is the item at amazon...the reviews for it are very good...

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00008AJH9/ref=s9sdps_c2_199_at1-rfc_g1-frt_p-3215_g1-3102_p-3293_g1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0NMW11YA2TS1ZDKH4WZ9&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=436516001&pf_rd_i=507846"]Amazon.com: Pet Supply Imports - SnuggleSafe Heatpad: Kitchen & Dining[/ame]

Normally, my cost-cutting measure is to heat just my bedroom (electric baseboard) and keep the rest of the house cool over night, but now I'm trying to find something that reduces that even further and just heats me and the bed.

At one point there were mattress pads with copper coils in them available. They collected your own body heat to keep you warm during the night.

Same here. We all have heated mattress pads on our beds. It allows us to keep the heat turned down all night long without freezing in our beds.

Electric blanket to warm the sheets, but get onw ith dual contral sides as he likes the sheets cold, I like them warm.

I can't sleep with it on or I will awake int he middle of the night dehydrated and overly warm, but it's great to get things warmed up. That an flannel sheets are great in the winter time.

We keep our house at about 60 in the winter, so it's brrrr in the house.

When we lived in our last home (it was a big old house with drafty windows & not enough insulation) I made some of those rice bags that you put in the microwave, the kids would warm them up & take them to bed with them. We also love flannel sheets. I got this faux down comforter marked down at sams club last year & it is REALLY warm, I wish I had gotten some for the kids.

Yes!! I have a snuggle safe. It is wonderful!! I bought it for the dog but he hates it. I am not sure why. I have had it several years and it is great to take in the car on chilly mornings I sit on it as I drive keeps my bum-bum nice and toasty. I tried it in the bed but it is pretty hard and feels like a brick.
Anyway about one hour before bed I slip a oversize electric pad (purchased at walmart $12.00) into my bed. Then when I am ready to retire the bed is toasty. I can not handle an electric blanket as I get to hot with them.

Well...not very frugal, but what we do is have a mattress warmer, topped with flannel sheets (Winners), 2 Hudson Bay 6 point blankets (probably around $300 now...ours are 30 years old), and a synthetic duvet (I'm allergic to down).

We turn the mattress warmer on 15 minutes before crawling into bed to heat it up. Then crawl in...in hm flannel pjs...and turn off the mattress warmer. No need to keep it running all night. Once it's warm in there, it stays nice and toasty.

My grandmother used to put a hot water bottle in our beds before we went to bed. It was free and it made the bed nice and toasty til we fell asleep.

I was also going to suggest flannel sheets and a down comforter. We used to have an electric mattress pad, but then I read something about them being a cancer risk. I have no idea of the validity of that, but thought I'd mention it. Maybe I'll do a google search on that now that I mentioned it....

I have a mattress pad warmer. Works great to take the chill off of the bed. I turn it up before I get in and turn it down once I do. Keeps me warm even if the house is a little chilly.

We use the electric blanket, we turn it on about 10 min before bed then turn it off and we are comfy all nite...I will add that we also have a 2in memory foam pad that also seem to help hold in the heat.
