    Default Wegman's, what's the scoop?

    Hello all,

We are getting a Wegman's near us and wanted to hear from some true frugal people if they are worth keeping track of?

I plan to take advantage of their grand opening specials, but want to know if they have great loss leaders?

They will not be that far away, so I could add them to my store route if they have good sales.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

i used to work for them and they are no big deal.. their creal is cheap 1.99 can goods 33 cents(for a limited time),, but dont buy how great they treat their employees.. its a huge lie.. i decided to go back to school when i saw they didnt take older people into mngt( i have an assocates in marketing) and decided to study radiography and became an x ray tech(make more money too)'

when the stores first open they are nice but ours has gone down hill (only open 5yrs) but they have benefits for pt workers..

Just curious but where do you live? I live in Haymarket Virginia and we too are getting a Wegman's. Are you close? That would be cool!

For me, I found Wegmans to only be good for their olive bar & cheese selection. The regular groceries seemed really expensive to me. I would prob only go there for specialty items, not everyday shopping.

I only shop at Wegmans. I love their generic food selections and I think their prices are comperable to other stores in my area. They are not as cheap as Aldi, but I like how their generic foods taste more than most Aldi brand products. I can usually find everything on my grocery list there, which means I don't have to shop anywhere but there and I can save money by not having to drive to other places for my groceries.

We have two near us. I think it depends on what you buy. You can easily sucked into their takeout/eat in dining area (which is fabulous), olive bar or organic area. I stopped going there so much because I was blowing my budget. I do go on occasion for certain things or when I am in the area.

When I lived in Rochester, NY, I loved Wegmans. I wouldn't shop anywhere else. I never felt their prices were high compared to other stores in the area. They had the absolute best selection of food hands down. I thought the sales were good and they doubled coupons to 99 cents back then. I can imagine they've only grown bigger and better in the last 8 years. The stores in my city then were superstores with everything imaginable inside. Missed that store so much when we moved here.

I adore Wegmans!!! I'm in Western New York, between Buffalo and Niagara Falls, and it's the lowest in price out of all comparable markets out here (not including Aldi). Their selection is fantastic, especially in natural/whole foods, and their bone-in chicken is about the same price as it is at our local Sam's Club. They have added a LOT of "club pack" items lately, with prices similar to Sam's and BJ's clubs. I like their generic stuff a lot, the tuna is especially good (I like it much better than Bumblebee). They also have a line of products called "Food You Feel Good About", which are (depending on the product) low fat, low salt, low sugar, without pesticides, steroids, and are often organic.

Can't say enough good about Wegmans, I've been shopping there my whole adult life. It's a fun, friendly, wonderful place to shop!

I think our Wegmans is pretty expensive, but I love to go there. I don't go too often...I spend too much money!
It is a very nice store and they have about anything you could want...Liz

My son who lives near Liz calls it "the expensive, fancy" store but loves their beer selection. Says that their fruits & veggies shine, lol.
