Default My Gas bill went up ....Grrrr!

I am so angry! For the last billing period I made it my own personal challenge to get my utitiles down as low as possible before winter set in with colder weather and darker days.

My hot water heater and my heat are the only things that I use gas for. My heat is OFF and has been OFF since the spring. I have been washing my clothes in cold water, rather than warm for an entire month and my gas bill went up $3. how is this possibl?. I haven't changed any thing else. I run my dishwasher once every 4 days or so, I take one shower a day, my son takes a bath every other day.

How is it possible that my usage went up? I'm wondering since it has gotten colder, does my hot water heater have to work harder to maintain the temperature and if it does, is it so much that it would raise my gas bill $3 when I have cut back with my laundry?

Check the number of days on the billing cycle the vary. That could be the reason.

Did they have a change in costs form last month, Service charges, delivery charges, gas charge?

Sometime they estimate the bill. The did this to us on a water bill when it jumped down drastically. After the checked out their end ( the water meter and line) they found out the change was real and credited the difference.

Unfortunately I did all that. same days in billing cycle, no price increase, actual reading.

Supposedly my usage went up from 17 to 19 ccfs. Now I know overall this is not alot and my bill is low, $58, but I really really made an effort in trying to get it lower before it goes up when I turn the heat on.

I was just wondering if there could be any logical explanation for this.
