thanks for sharing the article.
i hope it has a good point, whereby making "thrifty" 'cool' again, more ppl will do it... however, the unfortunate part is it will probably only be a passing trend, like everything else.
the article mentioned "in hollywood it's more hip to own a Prius than a Hummer"... sure, that's now... what about 10 years from now? 80 years from now?
Being thrifty and environmentally friendly I think would only be a passing fad. It'd make us feel more comfortable to come outta the woodwork when "everyone else does".
I think we can all do our part... being thrifty to me even means that we're making a healthy environment for everyone around us... our kids, our neighbours... we have less to "reduce/reuse/recycle", because we don't spend needlessly, and that's at least something.
that's my 2 cents

Every time I read an article on how to save money every day I have to laugh. Ever since I have been working I have brought my own lunch. Sure there were some days when I was running late and ate at the cafeteria or the office went out for lunch but mostly it was brought from home.
The one that really kills me is saving $4.00 a day by bringing your own coffee. DUH! Then there are stop eating fast food so much, buy store brands etc.
We have been doing this for years plus saving in different areas. I have to admit in my younger years credit cards were a big part of my spending. And a twice over our 27 years of marriage we got consolidation loans.
But as for that every day stuff the media goes on about, well that hasn't helped me a bit since I never did it to begin with!Last edited by Spikey1341; 10-30-2008 at 10:45 AM.

I am constantly amazed how we always shut the barn door after the cow is out. If frugal living were a way of lie for most people, we would not be in the mess we are in. DW and I have lived the same way ever since we were married(18 yrs.). I think the less "stuff" you have, the simpler and more enjoyable your life can be. We were late to get cell phones, cable, Internet, because we did not want to clutter our lives. We have moved into at least the twentieth century by now. No amount of "stuff" can compete with peace of mind.

The only thing I can say, depending on who it is it may be way too late. Glad there's interest though
