Guess what?
Coupon use is on the rise!
According to my newspaper, The Oregonian, coupon use is rising after falling for many years. Due to lean economic times, the lowly coupon is actually becoming tres chic and trendy!
All I can think of is a big, " DUH!". they had to write and article for this? Maybe they need to be direct HERE!

duh..you don't say??? who would have thunk it??

some articles lately on dealing with the economy and how to be more frugal are such a waste of time. i read them hoping to gain some wisdom or great ideas that i hadn't thought of......but to no avail. granted here we are all frugal....and know what to do. but i swear they think we are all morons out here!

Every time I read those I get frustrated. I already do everything and more!! The should come here. I have gotten some great tips I never thought about here!Jeanne

I agree. Or local news station is always running stories on how to save money and better manage your finances. But they never really give any advise that I have not already found here on FV. Maybe we should come up with a list of things to do to help cut costs across the board and then send it in to our local news papers and news channels.
BUT that means more people would know our secret and I am not sure I want to let that out!!Married to my highschool sweetheart, DD 6 DS 9 months

I was all excited when a show the other morning had a segment on how to slash your food bill in 1/2- too bad it didn't apply to me as the '1/2 off' was off the 'average' (as they claim) bill of $280 per week for a family of 4. WHO is spending that?!? it was supposed to be some HUGE deal they 'only' spent $20 for a days' worth of meals- and I noticed that didn't include any milk. Any of us here could've whittled that down a few more dollars AND given the kids they milk they need!
-Sigh- some us us can't find good advice from the experts on this subject these days as we are the 'experts'!

I really don't think of myself as a frugalista and have spent a lot of time trying to find ways to improve but it is really difficult because, like was said, next to none of this stuff flying about is remotely helpful.
I do find it disturbing that there are people that actually need to be told this stuff though.

I think a lot of people DO already know how to save money, but are just unwilling to part with their comforts to do it. It is a matter of degrees and comfort levels. On a related note, I heard on a news show the other day that Madonna slathers herself with a $10,000/jar cream every night. So I guess it is all relative. If you had THAT much money, I doubt you would be interested in all the different uses for baking soda!!

Coupons saved me a total of $25 today at various stores, and I have another $13 coming in rebates.
I definitely noticed a number of people today with coupon binders, coupon file folders, and envelopes. I felt proud.
