    Question Are your kids frugal?

When I made the quilt for Sara, I had a few odd pieces of material left over that I couldn't use for anything else, so I threw them in the garbage.

Well my dd went through the garbage and picked them out and said "mom can I have these for my quilt". She is making her own quilt and so I said "sure". How frugal is that!!

Are your kids frugal at all and if so, share their stories. I'd love to hear them.

Nope! even through the tough times they seemed to believe money appeared when ever they wanted it to.

Now don't get me wrong, my dd believes we have a hidden money tree in the backyard somewhere. But she can be very frugal. She will make stuff out of anything. My best friend works for a felt manufacturer and sometimes she will bring home scraps. My dd loves this and go crazy, making costumes, etc.

Kinda,I think with us being frugal she has a more sence of value and that you don't always have to get everything.I also think she has a sence that we are fortunate of what we have and that there are a lot of people that have less.Like when the Monsters Inc DVD came out (which my sister is buying her for christmas and she knows it)my sister told her that she will send her money now and she can have it now and still get another present at christmas.Lauren replied with nope you can still get it for me for christmas I don't really need anything else.HELLO!Big time shocker for me.I thought any 4yr almost 5yr old would love to get a christmas present now and one at christmas.Guess she's paying attention

DS has no real concept of money, dd is a penny pinching tightwade !!!!!! She is her Mama's girl....... She is the first to haggle at a yard sale and can smell a clearance rack a mile away... She is also very big into reuse & recycle !!!!!

Not! So.....DD is 13, and we opened her up a checking account this past year, deposited money for school supplies, clothing, class trips, etc. for fall. She has to write her own checks for these items. Needless to say, it's only October, and she's almost out of $. Too bad, she won't get any more until Spring. I'm trying my best to teach her when it is gone, it is gone.

I wish!!! Well, mine are only 3 years and nine months! LOL! Every time we go out, my 3 y/o son says "Mommy, me want prize!!" We made the mistake of telling him one day that if he was good, we would get him a prize (toy). Now everytime we go somewhere he thinks he has to have a prize! LOL!

I'm with Heaven, dd is much more frugal with her money than mine. She's learning though and her new favorite place is GoodWill. She's figured out that she has a much better chance of getting something there than at the mall.

My boys are learning too. They love to go to the used game store and get a new game for their Game Boys for 5-10.00. DS#1 told me, "WHY would anyone buy these new? They cost so much!" Hoooraaayyy!

My DD's are yard sale and clearance rack shoppers. DD1 once got a cool pair of LEI bellbottoms off of a clearance rack for $3.00! She found them herself. DEB shop has great clearance.

Ds is 5 and loves to shop at yard sales, thrift stores, rummage sales, etc. We're still working on him wanting every toy and dvd in sight when we go to regular stores though. LOL

    Are your kids Frugal???
wheres the smiley thats rolling onthe floor with tears coming out of his eyes and holding his sides cuz hes laughing so hard.

Damon just told me, " Mommee - I really want a quad for Christmas (an ATV) but if you can't get that I 'll just take some hotwheels. "
Now there s a grasp on the whole money concept - either $4000 or $2.99!!

Oh and then there's Aimee - "If Bruce didn't smoke so much maybe we could afford to go out to dinner!"
