    Talking What is your indulgence???

I think even the most frugal of the frugal, must have some kind of indulgence!

Just curious what types of things you don't skimp on? What "want" item do you spend money on, that you know you could save a bundle on if it just gave it up? Soda, 3-ply TP, pedicures, Cookies from the bakery? What is your indulgence?

I think my big one would be coffee! I don't buy it out, I make it at home (which is where I justify spending more on it)! I used to hit the Starbucks drive-thru a couple of times a week...now I don't. But I can't buy cheap coffee...well, not the really cheap coffee. Folgers is bottom of the line that I will buy, and every other month or so, I go to Starbuck's or Caribou and get a back of whole bean, really good coffee to make at home. So I would say that is my one regular indulgence, that I won't give up....unless I'm down to my last dollar in my savings account, and literally can't afford it!

Dove chocolate and good coffee here too. We recently got a bag of Seatles Guatamalian (SP?) coffee for Christmas and it was HEAVENLY! We streched it by mixing it with our Chase and Sanborn and REALLY enjoyed it, so much so that I'm going to pick up a bag of it today, yum!

And the chocolate, lol, I have hubby trained, it's known as medicine around here and he's been known to walk through the door holding a bag out in front of him if he knows it's been one of those days.

Mine would deffinately be the AC in the summer. I can skimp on the heat, go without cable, eat whatever I have stocked up, and so on but I'm am a miserable person if I'm hot.

Salsa & Chips either from El Tapitio or Chili's. I pick up some at least once a week and I know that it would be cheaper if I made it myself but it just doesn't taste as good.

Are indulgences only things we splurge on regularly??

I buy pop--coke. I make it last though.

I only buy Pampers for Wesley...none of the other brands are soft enough for his heiney!

I only buy glad forceflex trashbags.

Nichole, I think indulgences can be impulsive and spur of the moment too! It's just easier to remember the ones that we do regularly!

I actually think I have my impulse indulging under control! No more impulse buys at the check-out counter!

I've said it before and I'll say it again....

'Clothes (usually from the clearance racks at least 80% off) and junk jewelry...(ditto, but I have a lot of both, getting lots of compliments always). I like to buy clothes at the thrifts as well so most of my wardrobe comes from one of these 2 sources. I've been trying to curb my shopping for about a year and have made huge progress, only going into 'town' about once a month really helps.

We drink good quality coffee, but rationalize it by only drinking one cup of it a day and we make it here at home.

oh man...Dagwood's Sandwich Shoppe. If y'all don't have one in your town yet, it's coming. It's a new franchise and yes it's dagwood like the cartoon dagwood and blondie.

THEY MAKE THE BEST SANDWICHES EVER. Seriously...love. We eat there *gasp* once/week. I'd eat there daily if I could.

Also, chapstick of any variety. I'm always picking up a new one.

Scrapbooking supplies. I always buy online, clearance stuff with free shipping but it's still way more than I should spend.

    Probably too many ....

Good coffee, dark chocolate, eating out sometimes, drinks when going out, clothes (though I almost always buy used or on sale.) But I think I make up for it with a lot of things I DON'T find necessary to buy. Plus I don't have children or anyone else to take care of so I feel allowed to spend my own money the way I want.

I'll admit, we're not as frugal as we _could_ be.

but i think that goes back to the post i made earlier about knowing when it's frugal or just missing out on life.

    SO...
i call it "fake coffee" - those sugary cappuccino mixes... not the best for health, but at 80 calories a pop, I don't mind two a day!
I'm not big on regular coffee, I need something in it to tolerate. But every now & then a good strong cup of coffee I crave - but I buy the instant singles.

Another thing is eating out. this isnt healthy either, but i like some fast foods (veggie burgers & tacos). So once a week MAX we'll eat out (usually tacos!), and it costs like 7$ for the three of us! (ya'll probly know where I go! *LOL)

I agree that we need to have indulgences in order to keep happy and feel rewarded for skimping on other things...

    Here's to indulgences!

I HAVE to have potato chips and ice cream in the house. I drink whole milk at 53 years old, because that's what I grew up on and how it comes out of the cow (other than pasteurizing and homogenizing, of course). I consider it an indulgence, because people act like I'm spoon feeding myself Lard. Doesn't cost any more, though. .

OH! I buy Land's End stretch corduroy pants for winter. They are pricey but I watch for them to go on sale. So comfortable.

Okay, you are not going to believe this one... as much as I love my coffee and chocolate, I will 'settle' for something less because of the price... my one absolutely no substitute item is...

    OB tampons.

Yup... I've tried the others, but I can and will only use OB. I've never seen them on sale and never came across a coupon for them. I don't care if they go up to $10 a box... I need them.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!
