    Default I saved $100 in 3 weeks!

by not spending my $1 bills! We only shop on Saturdays, so I decided to see how much I could save by not spending the $1's. The first week, I had $35 in ones when we came home after shopping. I was shocked how fast it adds up. so, now I'm on a quest to save the $1 bills. Anyone want to join me?

I'm a waitress so if I never spent $1 bills I would have very little money, but we do save our change.

Congrats on finding something that helps you save!!!!

    Wow $100, that great!
I will join you, in Canada our dollar we call a loonie (it is not paper money), so I will pretend it is like a change and save in my jar.

We don't use cash much, so if I saved my one's I might have a dollar or two at the end of the month. But glad that it's working for you, any "trick" you can do to save money is always great.

CONGRATULATIONS! If you find something that works for you, stick with it!

I usually don't have a lot of cash on me, so your method wouldn't really work for me.

My method has been our allowances, we have $x per week for DH and myself to spend anyway we want on anything we want. We also have $x per week to spend on fun food, which can be eating out or something a little more fun from the grocery store.

This helps me keep money *in* my bank account. I've been enjoying making lists, thinking about what I'm going to spend my money on. Also if I spend only, say $5 out of the whole amount, the extra rolls into the next week. So I have an incentive to wait and find things for the lowest price.

I'll give a perfect example, I wanted to buy 3 items last week for $8 each. At the store there was a deal, buy two get one free (W00T) then I also had a coupon for 20% off and it could be used twice, so I got that addition 20% off. THEN I also had $6 gift card like coupons and I used that on the remaining balance.

The total? $6.80, less then the cost of ONE item. I rolled over my savings of $17.20 to the next week.

I always like to add up in my head what my deals would have cost if I had paid full price. It makes me happy to see all the items I could get for a little amount.
