    Default I'm SOOOOO EXCITED!!!

Just had to share... a debt we've had for a while & finally started paying a little bit on (started Oct 2008~ it was already in collections, so was more concerned with that that wasn't in collections yet... kwim?). So anyway, they've asked (in writing) if we wanted to settle on it for $154.34 & orig balance was almost $400! YES WE WILL SETTLE!!! Have sent payment off already! I'm guessing the debt companies are seeing some trouble too!

Just had to share! 1 down, so many more to go! (BUT GETTING THERE!!!)

Make sure you keep the receipt & settlement letter, because they can sell the difference to another company who will then try to collect. If that happens, you'll need proof that you settled. Trust me, it can resurface many, many years later!

This is so true! I was stupid and ran up a Sears card when I was about 20. Settled it for less a year later. Then out of nowhere last year a collection agency thought they were going to collect the rest from me. No way!

AWESOME !! Yes, when you settle, send the proof of payment and the settlement letter to the 3 credit bureaus so they will know you settled the bill. You go girl !!
