Question Question on gifts in a jar

How soon in advance of the holidays can they be made up? I realise spice mixes could be now, but what about cookie mixes?

    TIA

If you have the lids tight they will last for a year or more, go ahead and do them now..... Tip, when I make them up, I use only sterile flour...(Use sterile cocoa too).. flour that has been kept in the freezer for at least 30 days, then they will not ever get buggy !!!!

The recipes in my collection say not to store them for more than six months.

Keep in mind if anything you are making has sugar/brown sugar in it, it's bound to harden.

Last year I waited until about a week before I was giving the gifts to make my mixes.

Thanks QuilterMom, I'm going this week to get all my supplies. So I figured right after Thanksgiving to put them all together.
