Talking What are your goals for 2009

First let me share my good news with you. All my life I was a hardowrking woman. Even I had dramas in my life like everyone else, god was always good to me making sure I am in good health and have a job. Some employers took advantage of me, by abusing workwise, but this one I am working for the last 4 years is just my angel and I wish him all the best. He treats me well, pays me well and if I do something extra he pays me some sort of commissions. He on another hand has a habbi carelessly loosing money by not reading final prints. Resently after my diplomatic approach with a company I was able to recuperate a good chunk of money which my boss lost. We got the money and I got the commission of $1500.00. Wow! So $600.00 I am going to put towards my RRSP and the rest is going to EFund. Sorry I got carried away, that how happy I am, so let talk about goals.
At the end of each year I write down my short and long term goals for next year. The other day I got my form to start a new one for 2009 and was surprised that there are not too many. Looks I don't need too much, a few small things, but the rest is to build my EF and pay towards mortgage as much as I can. Looking at my old goals from previous years I did achieve almost everything I wrote down.
Before I write down my goals I would love to hear yours if you don't mind to share.
    Here are mine so far.
Keep saving towards Vacation, Christmas fund, Grown-up kids, grandchild,
    Build Emergency Fund
    Increase Mortgage payment
    Bleach professionaly my teeth
    Buy sectional sofa
Melt the gold for a good ring (I am not sure how much it cost and if it is worth)
Buy a bigger freezer (if husband get an overseas job, then there no need)
    Pay for the fireplace
    That all for now.

    2009 is my year!
Alot has happened here recently, and my focus now is on getting my life under control in order to have a happier, healthier lifestyle in the future.

    My goals:

    1. Manage my budget and live within my means
-This includes several steps that I will be implementing along the way

    2. Manage my time and schedule to keep me from getting so far behind and emotionally drained

    3. Manage my health- medication, eating, exercise, and work life balance falls in here as well

    4. Manage my boundaries in relationships- esp. with my ex. This is an area that I am always struggling with, being too nice, sacrificing too much of myself for others. Learning how to negotiate a healthier balance so I don't feel so taken advantage of or give more than I have.

That's alot! But it all inter relates in several ways, so the actual steps overlap quite a bit. I am planning to be less of lurker here and be more active on the forums, I think there's alot here that will help me with my goals. I am also recognizing that these are all lifelong processes, not things that will be fixed and done with sort term.

    My goals for 2009:

-pay off $1258 credit card bill (aiming to have it paid off by 2nd paycheque in February)
-have a lump sum of $4700 ready to put towards my lease buy-out this summer
    -create an EF
-continue paying into my RSP ($100+ each month)
-start working on a down payment towards owning my own place (still have to figure out a reasonable amount)
-re-gain the frugal mojo that I had when I first started working with my current employer

I'm a bit frustrated that I can't better quantify some of my goals right now but my hours have been cut at work (yay for economic downturns!!) and I have yet to see exactly what my "new" income will look like.

I have a dayplanner that I use to keep everything in my life straight (two jobs with very weird hours) and I like to write all my goals in the back in the "notes" section. I can easily consult my goals that way and make sure I'm on track.
I want to kill my mortgage! 192,391/197,370 (since July 2011)

I'm attempting to live by the principles of The Compact in 2012. Wish me luck!

    2012 Financial goals
    • make an extra $15k over and above any flying pay (1705/15000)
    • pay an extra $1750 off my mortgage (557/1750)
    • bring EF back to $10k - $3533 left to save
    • avoid lifestyle inflation
    • improve investment plan (change accounts) - *grumble grumble* Bank made a mistake, need to re-do paperwork

    The Financial Goals I've achieved:
increased RSP contribution to $300/mth, posted budget on FV for review, saved $1600 to go on vacation

    Goals:

DD needs $$ for a mission to Haiti, so I'm working toward that.
DS & I are visiting NYC in June, so I need to be saving spending $$ for that.
I want to attend a teachers' conference on Dyslexia in Aug/Sept., so I'll begin lobbying for that after the first of the year.
Keep looking for areas to trim and good bargains on the things we need.

I have a few goals planned out already........

-pay the very last of the cc debt (will be done by March....sooner if I really tighten the belt!)
-attack the mortgage......hoping to get that paid off sooner rather than later!
-dh wants to buy property for retirement so we will be looking and possibly buying this next year!
-I've been "dieting" since June......hoping to have the last of the weight off by March!
    -Get my stockpile back up.

DH is starting a job that pays twice what he got paid in the Army (he just got out), so we have many goals that involve spending money....So please, don't think I'm some spendy person, we've done without living paycheck to paycheck, so we're excited to finally have extra to do these things....

    1. Get a brand spankin' new car for me (mine is a POS and I'm paranoid driving the kids around in it)
    2. Work on repairing my credit (haven't even looked at the thing in fear)
    3. Rip out all the funky landscaping that DH let grow over from the previous owners. We hate it. Put new simpler landscaping in.
    4. Start remodeling the house. New kitchen, new cabinets/sinks in each bathroom, knock down a wall or two and possibly vault a few ceilings. This is all in preparation to sell when DH is eligible for the VA no money down loan to move to a bigger place.
    5. Refinance DH's car and the house, try to get a fixed rate payment for both through our bank and one payment.
    6. Get all 3 dogs in obedience training.

That's all I can think of, for now.

    - eat healthier, lose weight and walk more (good for my bad back)
    - increase my stockpile
    - organize all outbuildings (4 that are full to the brim with stuff) and figure out exactly what we have and what we can sell to make a few bucks
    - plant a huge garden
    - raise chickens and maybe pigs
    - have at least 5 cords of wood cut and stacked before Sept 09

That is all I can think of off the top of my head but I know that there is alot more!!
