Default You know you're frugal when....

Ok, so I caught myself being really freakishly frugal tonite.

I opened a new box of dishwasher detergent that had the little premeasured plasticy pouches in it that had the powder in them. I got it free with coupons!
I opened one little pouch up, and used a measuring spoon to see how much detergent was in it.
I then proceeded to open all 30 of the little pouches and poured the powdered detergent into a container. Then I measured precisely half of what was in a little pouch and loaded up the washer.
And then I made sure to carefully instruct the kid on exactly how much to add per load.
The kids reaction: "Mom isn't it enough that you water everything down? Do you have to do it with the dish soap too?"

I think I've hit a new frugal high...or low...depending on how you look at it!

    LOL good job!
Not only being smart about the over use of soap, but also teaching your kids!

    You're okay

I been known to do a few strange things myself.

I bought 4 BIG size bags of pudding packages this summer for $ 1 each
at the flea market. Two have to be cooked, and two are instant ones.
And I needed to know how much a regular pkg holds. So I opened up a
pkg I had here, and weighed it, and measured it. Then I proceeded to take
the bigger bags and measure off the right amount into small plastic bags, and
then put back into their bigger bags.

And when I cooked the 2 big pumpkins up and bagged them off into one cup portions , I even managed to count them.....there are 45 bags in the freezer.
I fiqure we can get quite a few loaves of pumpkin bread

LOL I may have hit a new high/low tonight, too!

I made a peach cobbler from canned peaches and just couldn't bear to dump that sweet syrup that was leftover. My husband drinks a gallon of sweet tea a day. Frugalcrazy me thought it might be a good idea to use the peach syrup to sweeten the tea instead of the sugar.

After making it, it still needed 2/3 of a cup of sugar, but hey, I saved 1/3 of a cup and didn't waste the peach syrup, right?

It give the tea a light, fruity taste but I'm not sure DH will care for it. I'll soon find out.

Hey do you know how much they charge for peach flavored tea? Those little bottles of tea is really spendy!
Great job Ladies, and I don't think its a low at all......fact of the matter is, its a great feeling when you know your saving!

I made whole chicken in the crockpot on friday for dinner, with a side of pasta and pea's and carrots mixed.
The following morning I tore all the chicken off the carcass and bagged up the bones and fat. Threw the chicken back into the crockpot, threw the left over pea's and carrot in the crockpot, and threw the pasta in the crockpot, then added some water, seasonings and a can of corn and a can of green beans and put it on low back in the crockpot for dinner last night!!!!
When the kids asked me what was for dinner last night, I said, " the same thing as last night, only in different form!!!!"
    Frugality ROCKS!!!!

P.S. I use the fruit juices to sweeten the crockpot oatmeals I make overnights for breakfasts!!!!

I had a friend come over last weekend and she said "Brrr, it's *little* chilly in here!" and we all snorted out loud with laughter when I confessed dh and I had cranked it up 5 degrees for her visit! I guess we should go 7 for next time!

And how 'bout, the sick and twisted high (usually accompanied by a cackly "Muahahaha!") I get whenever I pull off something frugal and thrifty . . . like the snowboot + table lamp score I got for dd & ds at Goodwill . . . or repurposing one "throw"-away item for something you were going to need to buy, etc.

I had my sister and her family for company last Christmas and we cranked the heat (well cranked for us). I felt really warm and was walking around in a t-shirt. My sister was shivering away. She actually asked if we would light some more candles to warm the place up

I have been known to open up ketchup packets and put them in the bottle. Doesn't seem that weird to me.

I got the "you're weird" look today when the unfrugal half made me a sandwich and I told him not to throw out the heel but to put it in the freezer. Ummm yeah.
