    Exclamation How much does the government think you should spend for food?

    http://www.cnpp.usda.gov/Publication...fFoodSep08.pdf

    I know many of us have seen this.

    But add up the "thrifty" and the "luxury" plan for your famil and post it.

    For us:

    Thrifty: $718.00 per month

    Luxury: $1400.20 per month
    Starve a bank... Pay cash.

    $781 for the liberal plan.....$397 for the thrifty plan.

    And here I was thinking I spent too much at the grocery store! Snort!

    For one adult (over 50) and one teen (over 17) for a month:
    Thrifty $329
    Liberal $611

    Is that what they calculate for food stamps? I spend about $200

    well, i did mine and the thrifty plan is much higher than i actually do get from the government. But, then again every state gives different rates depending on how many people are signed up for help, so.....

    Thrify is $558.56 and luxury is $1087.70

    I try to keep groceries around $400-$500 per month, so I'm thinking we are right on target!

    "Thrify" plan is $486.40
    "Liberal" plan is $930.50

    I spend an average of $300 a month. So I have fallen short of the governments expectations!!

    Thrifty= $420.50

    Liberal= $813.40

    The Thrifty is at least $100 more than we spend right now on food.

    We fall between thrifty and low cost. Our monthly budget for 2 is $400. We feel that's high, but deal with it because we are trying to eat healthy, and healthy ain't cheap.
    If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

    Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
