Really good saving day
I have been trying to get back into the habit of couponing and combining that with sales to try to save us money and today I can finally see how staying on top of these things can make a big difference. Here is a list of my shopping today and the money I saved.
50 lbs. Chicken feed after $8.00 coupon==$6.19—Saved $8.00
3 months prescription for Simvastin was paying $42 monthly. Got 3 months supply for $15 and got $10 gift card for new prescription.—Saved, counting gift card $121.00
Went to Bi-lo combined sales and coupons Got 5 boxes of Betty Crocker potatoes, 2 packs of Betty Crocker cookie mix, 1 Betty Crocker Cinnamon Streusel Muffin mix, 1 Progresso 32 oz. Beef Broth, and 1 Redi Whip. Paid $7.77---Saved from coupons and sales--$13.63
Went to Kmart (I know, I know) bought:
Big game scale: Regularly 43.99—paid $21.99----Saved $22.00
2—3 piece sleep sets Regularly $23.99 each---got buy one get one free---Saved $23.99
1 pair of tennis shoes @24.99 and one pair of loafers @ 17.99—Buy one get one ½ off—Saved $9.00
1 pair of jeans for dd—regularly $21.99—50% off paid $10.99—saved $11.00
Went to 2 other stores and saved 20% in one and 25% at the other. Saved approximately $14.00
So today I saved $222.62
Wow! I knew I had done good, but not that good. This has truly motivated me to get on the savings band wagon. I can't wait to see what else I can get deals on.Jeanna

I had good day with dog food. Had a coupon, caught a sale and got a bigger bag through a promotion. You get it because you are excited about the saving like I am. Way to go!

Great way to save! I hope to get a good go at my stockpile in 2009. Hopefully it'll be easier once we move and I can actually see what I have.

Congrats on wonderful savings! It really is such an awesome feeling when you save that way. It also helps to see it as a game (somewhat) and what the payoff is when you win!

I really need to keep track of what I saved instead of what I spent. I think it makes a big difference when you see what you would have spent if you didn't go to the trouble of hunting down sales and using coupons.

Really great deals.
I had a great day shopping yesterday at Kohl's for $50.
Dh bought 3 pairs of slacks.
We had a $30 cash coupon from the week before
when he purchased work shoes and also a $25
gift card he got as a gift. We just had to pay the
difference of $15.
I bought 2 $16 Playtex (reg. $27) on sale bra's and
dh more brief's. I had $5 coupon for signing up for
Kohl's online emails and also a 15% off coupon I
received in the mail. Used both, total came to $46.
After deductions came to $35.
We left very happy.
" May we never let the things we can’t have or don’t have or shouldn’t have spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it. One of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have."
