Thread: Bad Karma?

I don't understand the role of karma when it comes to buying clothes. Is it bad karma to buy new underwear, when you can buy used-especially since both are laundered before purchase? Who knows. I buy new underwear. Sometimes I buy a new coat. The classics last for years. If I need a coat, and found one used that I liked, I would get it.I would donate both when I purchased another.A bargain is a bargain . It is good for anyone.

I have had this thought before. But we donate a lot. And give to charity. And we don't take more than we need in life. So no, I believe it is probably Karma's way of paying you back for all the nice and considerate things you've done. Generosity begets generosity me thinks.

I used to work for a non profit thrift shop. They got all their inventory for free. We had to pull clothing inventory every week on a rotation plan, that had been there 6 weeks, put it in big bulk hampers so they could take it back to the main store. I understood some of it even got sold to rag companys.
Enjoy the coat you found on a good deal. Think of it as helping in the recycle plan. When we need something in this household, I start checking for used first. If I can't find the right item/s, then we have to buy new.
Some things we do buy new, and never check for used. It just depends on the circumstances.
You are being very kind in not charging full rate for the work you do.
When you find a deal like the coat you just bought, then it's simply what goes around comes around. You got rewarded for doing a prior act of kindness.

I echo the other Villagers posts. Remember too that the money from these sales help pay for the programs that places like the Salvation Army have going, that may be food and shelter for others. You are helping support worthy causes with your purchases.

If you are going to use it, then I don't see a problem with it. You are being frugal, what is wrong with that?
