Default How much for an "average" home in your area?

First off I am so *jealous* of anyone who can pay cash for a house...

Just wondering what an average 3 bedroom/2 bath goes for in your area.

We live about 40 miles outside of Seattle. We live in an average neighborhood. Our 3 bed/2.5 bath 2400 square feet would go for $350K (this is after the market drop)

Depending on the area 1400-2000 sq. foot homes sell for between 90,000 all the way up to 185,000. You can get a nice home here in a good neighborhood for 85,000.

The figures I found for my bitty town in north eastern Indiana site the median home price as $87,700. Those were 2007 figures though so lets call it $87,000 now.

We paid $26,000 for our home 7 years ago. It's 1,500 sq. ft and worth approx $85,000 in today's market.

You can have a decent three bedroom, two bath home in town for $100,000 dollars. The price of land is what is so shocking. In the late 80's we purchased 125 acres for $700 per acre.Still have it.Now they are asking $2,000 bucks per acre. We are buying 640 acres(will close Friday), it is improved, with the homes and barns, etc. but the cost is creepy. How in the world could anyone take up farming, right out of college?Sad thing is, it would bring more if we butcher it up into smaller parcels and resell.

You definitely are! I have family your way, and the housing prices are insane.

In my neighborhood the average for a 3-4 bedroom house is $250-300K, which is about average for most Twin Cities Metro suburbs, until you get to the southwest suburbs, then you're looking at $400,000+.

Here in CA prices vary widely. You can't touch a house of any size for under $100,000 anywhere I don't think. Anywhere from $150 -400,000 depending on where it is for an average 1500sf house. I'm sure higher in some areas.

A 3 br/2 ba, 2400 sf home would run in the $350-400K range here, as well, especially if it were new. A few miles up the road, it would sell for around $600K or more. A few miles the other direction, you could get one, but it would be a modular.

My house is currently on the market. 4 bed, 3 bath, den/office, 2 living rooms, rec. room, 2 car garage on a quarter acre lot for 159,900. I would say that is about the average here.

In my city in southern Ontario a decent 3 bedroom / 2 bath house would run about $250,000 to $300,000. You can get stuff cheaper but they would be townhouses and condos.

I just drool when I read some of your prices. You mean I can get a whole house for $120,000?!?

There is such a wide range here it is hard to say. Within my zip code you can get a small (8-900 sq ft) 3 bed 1 bath home for as little as $25k , or you can buy a 4 bed 4 bath (4000 sq ft+) new home for $525k.

We own a home that is identical to thousands of other homes across the city, 3 bed 2 bath (~1500 sq ft) on 1/3 acre, with all city services. This type of house sells for $90k to $120k depending on what shape it is in and exactly where it is located.
