    Thumbs up DBF is learning...

We went grocery shopping last night and we was looking at pasta / spaghetti sauces and he normally likes the named brand stuff for 1.49 a bottle, but he turned around and said we can get the store own brand (0.36 a bottle) and add our own things to it and can get 2 meals out of one jar. So we ended up getting a few jars of sauce.
He is starting to 'spot' things that we could do for cheaper.

    Hi,

I think you're kind of lucky - with people like Martin Lewis and stuff being in the news all the time thrift is becoming more acceptable. Big thumbs up to your bf for making pain free sacrifices! I hope you enjoy your cheaper groceries.

DH used to feel a bit weird about taking leftovers to work for lunch, he soon started to appreciate it when the other people in his officer were jealous of what he was eating, lol.

    britbunny:

my dh used to be embarressed about the lunch at work thing too... at first he went out to the car and ate it...for whatever reason he brought it in one day....noone laughed...but he still ate it 'shyly'....then they started to notice what he was eating....started asking questions...started saying things like "cool"...dh was feeling a little more less self-cons....then for whatever reason he proudly started carrying his 'lunch-box' into work...at the office x-mas party one year they told me he became so confident that he turned into a lunch snob and would park his lunch box on his desk....take out a napkin...spread it around...smooth it out...take his sandwich from the baggy...lay it out...lay out his side of chips, crackers, whatever....pour his drink...(now mind you the whole time he is doing this to make a spectacule of himself and being a brat)....and look at everyone and smile....and eat..... see i created a MONSTER !

this was 15 yrs ago and he still proudly takes his lunch every day...new crowd to annoy though....i guess i trained him well after all...
