Yay me! I've saved enough...
Well, I can never save enough... but, we were planning on purchasing a used car late this summer, so I've been saving like the dickens to get there, so we can pay cash for a car by August or so.
Whoo hoo! I'm there already! I had budgeted for the year, but didn't budget in the tax return money that we got, which I dumped into the car fund this morning! Plus, we will still have our EF fully funded and won't have to touch it to get a car! Yippee!
I just love hitting my goals (especially when I hit them early) and I love paying cash for the big things and not even having to think about borrowing!
Can't wait to walk into a dealership and wave my wad of cash under a car salesmans nose and watch them start too drool! Ok, that's mean...but hopefully, I can find an awesome deal and put the rest of the car fund into our regular long term savings!

:woohoo: WTG!
That's awesome, and you're right...it does feel great to reach goals, and it feels even better when it's early too!

Be careful waving that wad of cash around. . . when my uncle retired from the military - he took his retirement bonus, and went to buy a car. They refused his cash! Said they were afraid of it being "drug" money, etc. . . but I think it was really that they wanted to make the money on interest on loans.

Congrats! We just purchased our daughter's car the same way. It was exhilerating to just write the check and never even think about a payment! Good job!

Congratulations! I agree about being careful waving around the cash. When we bought a used car at our local Toyota dealership the salesman was a real jerk when he found we were paying cash. He wanted the bonus/money from signing us up to a financing deal. I won't deal with him again. In fact, we're not sure our next car will be a Toyota, despite the good luck we've had with them...simply because of that salesman.

Dh is looking at a Camero...I on the other hand, am looking at more practical cars! I had a Mountaineer for years and I would love another one, but with gas prices always getting higher it doesn't make sense!
So, we'll be looking and test driving a bunch of cars over the next few months until we find the right one!
As far as cash buying goes...you have to remember the state of the economy right now. An unusually high percentage of borrowers are being turned down for financing, so right now, they are thrilled to have borrowers who are paying cash. They are thrilled to have people walk through the door who KNOW they can buy a car! A friend of ours just bought two cars together and got almost $8K (which was about half the price of one of them) because they were paying cash and willing to buy two cars at once. Right now, they are just happy to be selling anything!
And no, I won't actually be taking a wad of cash in with me...We'll probably pay with a personal or bank check! I was just being metephorical!

I don't think waving money under their nose is mean at all! I think it sounds fun! Great job!
