Default Advertisors is getting really annoying!

I'm still miffed at all the advertising that is being done. Save the economy by buying lots of cars from x dealer. Save the economy be spending at 1.5% interest at x store.

I know we can't stop spending entirely, in fact I don't know it's possible as there are bills every month and groceries.

The commercials are cheesy and all sound the same, and even desperate. Spend here and save the economy.

We have no big purchases to make, we had none prior to the recession and still have none, and I'm not going to do so because some one is begging me to. My number one priority is the economy of my family. And that is at risk of recession too, so they can bite me! My money is going into savings and paying off debt in the event we do have a layoff. Not into buying cars, diamonds, vacationing or a new house. I will support the grocery store, the second hand stores and a little of the department stores. But I will be shopping wisely.

There was one advertisement I thought was smart. It ended with so IF you are in the market for x, and IF you can afford it, it is a great time to buy X at record low prices. That one I don't mind, but others are so full of carp and desperation.

I kind of pity them, because they haven't yet realized how much has changed. At least it keeps some people working, I guess.

They do sound desperate, don't they? DH says "Why don't the commercials just show someone on their knees, pleading with us to buy something? At least it would be more honest."

Ads don't bother me. I've always been pretty much immune to them.

I'm just as free to buy or not buy something these days as I ever was, and if I'm not interested in it, I'm not buying it no matter what they say. I'm also smart enough to realize the little pittance I might spend to 'stimulate the economy' wouldn't make a bit of difference anyway, so I don't have to feel any guilt if I don't do my part. I never did, so nothing's changed there either.

Getting rid of TV was one of the best things I've ever done. I haven't seen a commercial in about 5 years

The ones that kill me are the "erectile dysfunction" commercials!!! Not to say that there is not a problem there that men need some help with or even women sometimes but hey....On the freakin cartoon network and Disney channels???????
So my kids are watching Disney and my 8 year old has to ask me "Mom, whats erectile dysfunction"? WTF!!!!!!

And the ad's for medications kill me too, take X medication for not being able to control your bladder, sides effects are~ headaches, abdominal pain, bloating, fever, gas, raised blood pressure, dizziness, ear pain, bloating, heart arrhythmia, and 12 other side affects you need 15 other meds to cure for!!!

But don't allow cigarette commercials on TV because those will kill ya ROFLMAO

you know the commercial that really irritates me? the one telling you its better to file for bankruptcy than to do one of those debt consolidation programs. because they dont always help your credit. then you see of their actors ask, 'but wont i loose my house if i file?' no, in most cases, you will get to keep your home! what the heck??

These tick me off, too. I'm still trying to figure out why Medicare pays for them.

    ED isn't life-threatening.

May not be life threatening, but it sure can put a damper on things for those who still want to...well you know . We have a lot of medications out there for things that aren't actually life threatening...but, the medications sure do improve a person's quality of life. Pain meds for instance...

That's what got us to where we are today, is by paying attention to these ads and believing them.

We mute the tv when the ads come on. We don't watch a whole lot of tv for that very reason, plus most of the stuff on our 2 stations is garbage anyways.

I concede the point. But Medicaid pays for them too, but will NOT pay for birth control pills. I guess that's what REALLY gets to me. Whatever guys want, they get, but women go begging.

They may be selling, but I'm not buying. I really dislike the drug company ads on TV & in magazines. No wander the meds cost so much, can you imagine how much they spend on advertising?

As far as spending money, we've spent quite a bit over the past months on things like heating & auto repairs, taxes, insurance, electric bills & such. Not sure its helping the ecomony, but we buy what we need (maybe a few wants) using cash & hope for the best.

What gets me is all the ads telling you that you will save money by buying their products. There is a hamburger helper commercial going around right now about what a cheap meal you can make with it. I can make an even cheaper meal without it
