Do you pass on or sell outgrown clothing?
Do you pass on or sell your stuff?
Do you think most people pass on their stuff or do you think most what to make money?
Do you think this will change with the economy? and if so what way do you think people will gravitate toward, selling or passing on?
I hear around town lots of people saying they are saving their stuff for the consignment sale, or a yard sale, or ebay. They say they want make money.
But on the other hand, when someone asked me why we didn't do the "sale" I told them I had a self imposed rule that I couldn't bring myself to make money off anything given to me and that didn't leave much else to sell. This opened up more hand me downs routes for my children. So people are passing on. I take what I need and pass on the rest to other people.

I used to donate it, but with things changing so drastically, I'm pulling away, and will be selling it, or consigning. I did on occasion with dd5 stuff and would get $50-80 per season. Got lazy about it. Am starting to do it again.

I have always been the one to believe that if I have something clothing/home decor-wise and got more than my fair use out of it and was ready to part with it, then I should let someone else benefit from it without it needing to benefit me. Besides 9 times out of 10 I didn't pay much for it in the first place if anything. So I pass it on. I donate it, give it away, whichever I can do.
What absolutely disgusts me is seeing someone in a thrift store (Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.) buying up all of the half off clothing and really nice clothing and standing there admitting they are going to be placing it all for sale on their ebay store. I've witnessed that more than once and it's shocking to me because so many people in there need to be able to buy those clothes at that price that day.

I pass mine on to my great-niece (if they are in decent shape) otherwise I throw them out. I wear my clothes out (literally) or they are so stained from either grease (in the shop) or dirt from outside, NO ONE would want them!

I wish I had someone to pass down my kid's clothing to.
My ds14 has all brand name clothing, which in the past does not sell well on a garage sale, so I quit putting it out, and donate it to goodwill.
I still have tremendous luck selling my dd clothes. If I knew someone who needed clothes, I would gladly pass them down in a heartbeat."We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen; For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

My oldest DD is about to go on her second mission trip, and it's pricey to send her. We have yardsales to raise funds for her to go, then the rest is donated. There isn't anyone for us to pass stuff on to anymore.

I did have a yard sale for all my baby things. To move the stuff I charged $5 a bag. Put whatever you can into a bag for $5.
Whatever didn't sell I donated to a pregnancy crisis center. DD's thing I have 2 families that I rotate a "gift box" of clothes to. DD is the recipient of hand-me-downs from my hairdresser. I call that one paying it forward.
DS has no one that I know of behind him, plus no friends to pass onto him. I might sell his stuff.

I recycle mine into handbags, other clothing, dolls, etc. that I sell at craft shows. Mainly it is just mine and DH's clothes, because we wear things out, then I cut out the holes or stains and reuse the reuseable fabric.
Jake's clothes get handed down to Josh, Josh wears them, then everything gets bagged up and handed down to a friend of ours, whose son wears them, then passes them onto her SIL, whose son wears them. After that I don't know where they go, but we "laddered" our kids just right! It's so funny for me to see T-shirts and things 5 years later that my kids used to wear, now being worn by a friend of a friends kids!

We are a pass on family.
Daughter gets hand me downs from a friend a year old than her. We pass down to my friend who has three girls younger than my daughter. We also get some hand me downs, generally dresses from the girl whose brother receives Son's hand me downs.
Son gets hand me down from a friend same age just taller. We take what we can use and pass on the rest to a friend a year younger than him. If they are going to be to small for that friend we hand them down to the brother of the girl who gives daughter hand me down.
Hubby on occasion gets hand me downs from a guy a work. Hubby sometimes hands down to a friend at work.
I just received some hand me downs from a friend of my mother's and a friend of mine. I took what I needed and the rest is going to be passed on to another friend. I'm trying to find someone to give my now way to big clothes to but it is hard to find someone. I just doesn't seem polite to say excuse me but could you use these size 26 clothes. I think my neighbor might be able to use them but I don't want to offend her if she isn't that big a size. I might just send them to the Salvation Army.

Almost everything my kids wear is a hand me down from someone. We then hand all their stuff off to someone else. The only things I generally need to buy are shoes, socks and undies.

I don't have yard sales anymore. The only thing I have alot of are clothes and alot of those are handed down....which I in turn will pass on. My cousin and mom pass clothes to me and I pass clothes to them. Undies and socks are the only new things we purchase on a regular basis.

I do both. I will pass it along if someone I know wants it, or give it to goodwill. I sometimes (if I am in the mood) will do a garage sale, I live out in a rural area so garage sales don't go over as big as in town.
taking one day at a time, trying to get rid of debt!!

I'm too lazy to price the clothes and sell them so I just bag them up and give them away or drop them at Goodwill.

I keep it for the next kid in line or pass it on. Most of it was passed on to me or garage sale so I'm trying to return the favor.

I do both. I pass on things to friends and sell during our neighborhood garage sale.
