I'm really impressed with what the blogger has been able to do with so limited a budget. What's most inspiring is how she's wringing the most out of every purchase, like zesting the orange to flavor muffins and making broth from the bones of her chicken leg to bolster her protein consumption. She's a little low on vegetables & fruits, but she's made good choices with what she has bought, since the citrus & cabbage will give her enough vitamin C to ward off scurvy, and the spinach is a great source of iron. Also, the sunflower seeds are an excellent source of folate, and the tomato sauce is full of vitamins A & C. My only real concern is calcium, which she could get from kale or sesame seeds, since her budget does not allow for dairy products.

I'll be very interested to follow her progress and read her thoughts after the month is up.

I ran across this today. Very interesting blog. She was already pretty frugal, I think she said that she spent $80 /month on food for herself before the experiment. She doesn't waste anything. I would be pretty hungry on what she eats per day, but I work out a lot.

I love reading this blog! Thanks for sharing. This is how all those previous experiments from people trying to imitate food stamp users should have been done. No processed foods, but good healthy food! I love how she puts up photos of her food straight from the store and then the finished food that she will eat as well as receipts. I only wish the blog would continue with the good ideas after her month is up.

Thanks for sharing. I read all of her entries and have been following day-by-day as well. I have her site as one of my home page tabs so I remember to read her blog. Inspiring. Thinking of having red beans and rice soon...what should I add so dh won't flip out? We're trying to stretch our 3 weeks of no grocery shopping to 4 weeks, so I can't really run out to the store for extra stuff.
