Affirmations and visualizations
I have been creating affirmation statements for a little over two years now. I first learned about them in the book, “The Success Principles” by Jack Canfield.
I review them every morning for an hour while I am exercising. I actually visualize them as if they are already true. I find it puts me in the right frame of mind for the day and reminds me of things I need to accomplish to make my affirmation a realization.
In short, they are a statement of a goal with an action verb that brings pleasure. They are best when they have a little rhyme (because your mind likes to remember things like that), but you’ll see from my examples below that they don’t have to.
Here are my affirmations (these are probably the vaguest ones I’ve had, but that is because we just paid off our mortgage and our trying to just get in the mode of regular savings and then actually spending some of our money to make the house a little nicer, do some fun things, and give even more). Anyways, here you go:
1. We are happily saving for a rainy day, we will have our umbrella when we reach 12K.
2. We joyfully invest in our children’s college degrees and dream of graduations that are completely debt free.
3. We are excited as we look at forever and save every month for our retirement together.
4. Be sure to make room in the budget to have fun and to give, for we know that’s the only true way to live.
5. I am thrilled to be lean and feeling great at a lifetime weight of 158.
6. We joyfully raise our children the best way we know, making sure they understand – they’ll reap what they sow. We will encourage being healthy in mind and in heart, and expect them to be well-mannered and smart.
7. I am delightfully enjoying the beauty of my home and gardens as I continue to conserve and save.
8. I am ecstatic to learn and apply all I can everyday at both school and home.
9. I am enjoying a slow-pace of life with my family and friends while sharing the Word of God.
I thought someone else may want to create some of their own. They have been very powerful in helping us reach our goals. If you do, please share them.
One caution: About two years ago I created an affirmation regarding visiting Walt Disney World with my family. Although it didn’t explicitly state it, when I created it, repeated it everyday, and would visualize it I meant just my immediate (the 5 of us) family. As you can see from my picture to the left, my whole family went. So proceed with caution…LOL…just kidding…we did have a great time!
May today there be peace within...
May you trust your highest power that you are exactly where you are meant to be...

Great thread! I love these sort of books and am currently reading a really old one by Dr. Joseph Murray. One of my 'affirmations' is; Good things come to us in avalanches of abundance. I reaffirm it often during the day and am amazed at how well it works.
Keep up the good work, I do believe our thoughts shape our world.

Very good thing to do!
You have goals and you repeat them daily, it's hard to get to a goal if it's not defined, so that's the first step.
What the mind thinks, the body follows. If all you do is stress about money or your weight or whatever, it always seems to get worse doesn't it. Instead focus and of being healthy and money coming into your lifem and somehow that almost always works as well.
A few years ago that movie/ book called "the secret" came out and a lot of folks got excited about using visualization as a tool. But the idea has been around for a lot longer than just this movie.
One of ours is "Money comes often and frequently into our lives", we've let a lot of that "stress" go and money does come into our lives. Granted most of the time it's a normal paycheck, but the priciple is the same.
Keep up the good work!

I am in 100% agreement will all of the posted sentiments. I have followed these guidelines for the past year or so and have also benefited by how I approach each day. Having affirmations affect my motivation and attitude towards everything! In addition, I have learned to be grateful for whatever comes my way. Even the smallest thing, like a smile from a stranger or that I've made it home safely after work, or that I have food when I open my pantry. Sometimes I find myself feeling happy for no apparent reason! I am truly in a joyous state more than ever before in my life. Thanks for sharing.

I've done affirmations in the past as well. They are very useful.
Recently, as a Christian, I've been using the Prayer of Jabez, with the expectation that we will receive so we can share with others.
Yesterday I was on-line negotiating the transfer of what I thought were 5 bottles of unopened spices through a freebie site. I ended up with 44 bottles of 5 different kinds! Needless to say...I will be sharing...
Affirmations, and praying for the right reason with the expectation of receiving, nets positive rewards.2012 Challenges
