    Default I had to laugh

So I was at the HEB (grocery store) last night and they were selling containers shaped like pop-tarts. Who would ever need a pop-tart container?!?!

I don't buy pop-tarts but if I did and wanted to take one with me I would a.) just carry it or b.) wrap it in a napkin or sandwich baggy.

    LOL

i buy 'em as a special treat for ds - who enjoys them as a snack (it's a horrible breakfast option imho).

but they come in their own foil pack - so if you eat them like that, who needs a container?

and if you heat 'em up, you usually wanna enjoy them that way - hot! so eat 'em fast...

    a container?? LOL

i see a wonderful marketing gimmick

My only thought on why a person may buy such a container is if they wanted to pack the poptart in their childs backpack for a snack at school. The container would keep the poptart from getting squashed, and a reusable container would be more green then using a plastic baggie. As I try to move away from buying sandwich baggies for packing lunches, I am always looking for niffty little containers to pack lunch and snack items in.

Sometimes new packaging gimmicks work, and sometimes they don't. Does anyone else remember peanut butter slices (similar to cheese slices)?

I remember plastic containers that you could put your juice box in. Isn't a juice box in it's own container?

I love the blog "unclutterer" and every Wednesday they have "Unitasker Wednesday". The one that made me laugh was "overly specific containers".

    http://unclutterer.com/2008/03/19/un...ic-containers/

Twinkie containers, Nutri-grain bar containers, Pop-tart containers...

I can just see these in the garage sale or garbage in one year...

Companies have to make money somehow. And they know there is a sucker out there somewhere who will buy their product.

Call me a sucker then. Because I love these type things. My kids are teens and don't use them, but I do.

~I have the Uncrutables plastic containers. A demo person at the grocersy store was passing them out for free one day and gave each of the kids one.
~I have the Yo-Go containers. They were a give away in certain packs of Yo-Go's a few years ago.
~As far as the Pop-Tarts go, we don't eat two at a time. That is way too many carbs and calories for us. So, while they do come two in a package, we only have one at a sitting. The containers are good for packing the Pop-Tarts in a backpack, purse or for storing the second one in the cabinet until it is eaten.

    To each his own.
