    Default House swap....

    Hi there,
With such a bad economy and the fear about everything many of us still want to live and enjoy our lives. I personaly love to have vacation once a year. I heard and saw a movie about swaping houses, and think it a great idea to save money on accomodations. I live in Vanvouver, Canada, but would love to visit California, France, UK Monaco and wondering if anyone had a chance to exchange houses during their vacations? Do you think it is a good idea? If anyone is interested I have really nice condo with a nice view only 10 min from downtown.

I love the idea, but unfortunately, my house comes with over 100 animals that need daily care, so no one would want to "vacation" here!!

Let's see, we live on a lake with a million-dollar view, lots of wildlife, great fishing, in the heart of a world-class tourist destination. Would we loan out our house to strangers who may or may not steal from us, ruin our stuff, smoke in our house, and do all kinds of things we wouldn't like to the largest investment we'll ever have? Nope, don't think so.

But there are a few dozen really nice resorts right up the road...

I think it's a great idea, and I'd love to do it, but I'm not sure I could fully trust someone in my house with my stuff, yk? I would barely feel comfortable with my extended family staying here alone.

Not to mention, I don't think anyone would want to visit my area and stay here

I would love to do that but I think it would have to be for an extended stay if it were a long distance. I do live in a desirable area so that would definitely help.

I agree with Michelle... we only live a handful of miles apart... nothing exciting to see here.

People steal towels from hotel rooms... what would they do to my house?????

I have actually considered this for the FUTURE. I have looked into it online to see how it works but have not decided to do it yet. The major thing that I can not get around is (don't laugh) having people that I don't know sleeping in my bed. I am hoping that as I get less attached to things the more comfortable I would be in considering a house swap.

Although I live in a remote area, I am located close enough to Seattle for someone to make a day trip there. Also Mt Rainier, the Pacific Ocean, numerous outdoor and hiking areas are day trips and the ferry for Canada is 1 1/2 hrs away. Anybody think that sounds like a desirable vacation?

I definitely don't live in a desirable area, and I would not trust anyone in a house swap. We just have too much stuff for people to feel comfortable in our home too.

However, my brother, who lives in Vancouver, house swaps once a year for trips to Australia etc. He loves it!
