Default just cut my own hair

    huh! it looks ok.

i post on the "long hair community" and there are a lot of self trimming methods there.

I had hair approaching my hips. it needed two inches of straggly ends off. i said, well if i mess it up i will only take an inch off, that way a professional can clean up my mess if i screw up.

i washed and heavily conditioned with my head flipped over in the bath tub. Then combing my hair heavily slippery with conditioner, head upside down, gathered my hair into wet slippery pony tail. I cut an inch off. combed again cut any weirdness and stragglers off. it was at the length of my arms so i wasn't sure. then it did it corrected the edge more time to be sure.

now it is drying, there is a nice u shape, because the front is shorter than the back, which was what I wanted. I'll see after it dries. It is now at the small of my back. perfect.

    will report back.

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Congrats! I just did mine a couple of weeks ago and it turned out alright as well! I figured it was worth trying it for $15.00 plus tip.

    Mine hangs below my hips.
Every so often, I trim maybe a inch off.

now that it's dry, the left side is slightly longer than the right. i guess that being right handed i may have inadvertantly cut at a slight angle. will fix tomorrow morning. the scraggly inch - i can spare it.

Great job! Welcome to the "cut your own hair club". I've been cutting mine for quite awhile.

It is an investment of about $75 but I highly recommend a Flowbee. It is perfect for short hair but also has instructions to trim long hair. About 7 years ago I was awake at night and saw one of those infomercials. I did give in and buy one. We haven't had our hair "store" cut since. I love mine and the 9 y/o gets a kick out of telling people he cut my hair. When you do the math -- 5 people @ 1 cut a month for 7 years (OK, the little one is not that old yet but you get the picture). It has saved us a bunch.

I cut the male's hair in the family. I'll trim my dd's but if she or I need a full haircut we go to the salon.

Rats! Checked the Flowbee site and they only ship the vacuum hair cutting thingie in the US. Ticks me off. Both DH and I have short hair. That could be great for us.

Good job!! I have been cutting my whole family's hair for years now. I cut my own too, and even a few of my friends.

I would never cut my own hair! But I am a hairdresser and get it done for free at work anyways! I cut my bf and my sons hair, along with my mom and my sis....I do their hair for free!! So I save them money!

Congratulation on your first cut. I wish I could do mine but I have super curly hair. I do have a friend that is a hairstylist and she gives me a great rate.

Way to go! I started cutting my own too. I'm lucky to have a very simple style.

I cut my own a lot, too. I go to a cheapie salon once in awhile to have the gal get it starightened up, and then cut along her lines until I feel the need to go back again.

I have short hair that requires clippers with a guard to trim the neckline (wedge style-sorta), and I've cut my hair for enons.....

What I do that is a bit different, I budget $20/month for a haircut and I pay myself and put the money in the Christmas/Emergency Account ($240/year). NOW I can truely say I've SAVED by cutting my own hair.
