Thread: Frozen Juice Lids

Homemade "toys"
I don't know about other kids... but Tyler loves refrigerator magnets. He carries them around and sticks them to the fridge, oven, filing cabinets, doors, radiators, anything he can!
Last night I made him these cute Sesame Street magnets with frozen juice lids. He was so excited when he woke up and saw them! What a smile.
I had an old Sesame Street magazine here that came with some coloring books I bought at the thrift store awhile back. I used elmer's glue to attach the pictures and then mixed a little water with glue and painted it on top for a decoupage type of thing. For magnets I used an old advertisement magnet that I got in the mail from an insurance company, just cut it up into small pieces and hot glued it to the back. You may have to rough up the magnet a little with a nail file if they are real shiny ones to make them stick better.
The picture isn't to good, but you get the idea...

You're very welcome
I have also made these with pictues of Tyler. I scan a photo and have my graphics program size it to a circle the size I need. Then just cut it out!
You could also decorate them with lace and such to dress them up.Sherry

those are so cute! I saw a craft with juice lids and pictures and magnets, but then they took a dowel with string and a magnet on the bottom so it was like a little fishing pole.

Where did you see that Sara? I'd be interested since we are fishermen around here.

I can't find it. Basically it was what you did, but then take a wooden dowel and just add a string to it and a magnet on the end. I'll keep looking, maybe I'll come across it again.

This is weird. I swear I posted this reply yesterday. LOL
Anyway, I found directions that are similar to the craft I posted the other day.
http://www.hummingbirded.com/number_shape.html
FISHING GAME
Supplies:
Dowel
Narrow
Ribbon
Magnet
Juice Can Lids
I used a dowel (cut in half) and tied a piece of narrow fabric ribbon around one end and tied a magnet to the end of the ribbon ... to make a fishing pole. (I used string at first, but they kept tangling their lines, so the ribbon works a lot better.) Then I took a bunch of the juice lids and colored fish, shaped, letters, numbers, and their names on them. What they do is sit on the couch and fish into the carpet(water) and then identify the fish they caught (I caught an "L", or, I caught a red fish). If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. Sherry!!! That is such a cute and great idea!!! I get so many juice lids with my boys! Actually, I get about one a day! Can you imagine how quick juice goes here and I do try to limit them!
I'm going to do that for my nephews...

My Tyler drinks almost one a day on his own! I have been trying to limit him be he is just always asking for it. THe doctors say he drinks too much, but I don't know what to do. He won't drink water.
