I just wanted to post that we have replaced 4 of our windows on the backside of our house with the solar screens and are currently working on our large den window.
What we've decided to do is to make two seperate screens for each 'side' of the window since the window is so large that even the wider screen material would not work.
In order for there not to be that 'break' in our screens when we look out that window, we will do more of a 60/40 split, with the smaller screen on bottom.
I wish that I could take pictures of them once we finish, but unfortunately my teenage son dropped my digital camera.
But I just wanted to say thank-you again Checkerkitty for all of your advice & suggestions and for sharing this with me.Michelle in middle Tennessee!
Ever so slowly rebuilding my stockpile...

Wow! I can't thank you enough for this info! I live in FL, so needless to say this is a "must have". Also they hiked the electric rates this year and we need new screens anyway. I can't wait to tell my hubby. He's gonna love the price too.

I've got a little update on how the screens are working for us. I've finally had to start turning on the AC. We've hit 100 degrees the past few days. I was trying to hold out and just turn on the AC at night right before bed, but I think 84 degrees is the upper end of my comfort zone in the house. It's hard to sleep when you are sweating! Even with temps at or above 100 degrees, it never did top 84 degrees on the bottom floor without the AC. The screens are doing a super job keeping the temperature down so the AC doesn't have to work quite so hard when I do finally cave and turn it on.

For the people who has large windows with only a half screen why can't you take a roller shade remove the vynal that is on it and then replace the screen on the roller and hang it from the inside like a blind. That is what I am going to do. This will let me put it up when I want then when the sun gets hot just pull it down. I live in a new home and I am not going to try and alter the windows. So this is my thought of doing it from the inside.
