Got meat?
I just had to share my grocery shopping victories from this past week. Our local grocery store, that I usually don't shop at because their prices are so high, has had some sweet deals on meat, so I've been there twice- once during last week's sale, and then I hit this week's.
Last week, I filled the top shelf of my freezer with chicken breasts and thighs at $1.00/lb. and bought ten pounds of ground beef at $1.47/lb.
This morning, I went to take advantage of the same chicken sale (kinda wierd that they would have that same price two weeks in a row)- I just wanted breasts, and they were out, so I got a raincheck to be used in the next 90 days. Suits me fine because I'm so stocked on those anyway. I bought three 4# bags of frozen boneless skinless breasts, about 10 lbs. of pork chops, 5 # of fuji apples, three avocados, some assorted lunch items for my kids lunches, a large container of coffee creamer and a few other things for $53.31. I literally danced in my kitchen when I was unpacking my groceries. My garage freezer is completely packed with meat. I should have to buy any for the next two months or so.

Wow! Good deals! We couldn't even get the meat you got for that price...and our chicken breasts are on sale too. But they're over $3/lb. skin on bone in. Normally they're around $5/lb. You Americans sure get some good deals. Way to go!

You got some good meat deals
I got some good meat deals lately myself.
From a farmer, we bought 40 # of hamburg, and it sure is lean. Price was $ 1.50 a pound wrapped and froze.
Then his Dad gave us some leftover venison from last year. I think there was 12 packages. Mostly hamburg, a few steaks.
I did get some chicken breast for $ 1.60 a pound last week. It was on sale at 1.99 a pound but they had about 4 pkgs marked down for quick sale. There was 4 packages.
Our one grocery store had hamburg on sale last week for $1.18 a pound but that was only 73 % lean. I passed on that deal.
We are now raising 12 meat baby chicks. I think they are going to eat us out of house and home before we get them up to weight though............--------My signature--------
