These are the two I was going to say. I started reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn again tonight. It must be about the 10th time. I grew up in Greenpoint, which is right next to Williamsburg, and it was also mentioned in the book. Also know many of the streets mentioned in the story like the back of my hand. I related to much of it. Love, love, love it!!

And in the Little House books, I love the Long Winter the best. That one really will inspire anyone to "move onward" no matter what! Either one of these inspires me.

Me too ---A Tree Grows in Brooklyn definitely was my first choice on teaching frugality.

When I was a kid, it was "cinderella", "Princess and the pea", "snow white". You get the idea. The "just wish and persevere and all your dreams will come true" books... I had to learn the frugality lesson on my own. I am working through the little house series now - they have taught me A LOT! :-)

Right now, I'm reading "Farmer Boy" again from the "Little House" series. Constant, hard work, and you get to eat when it's all done!
I read all these books over and over again, and they always help me to put my own life in better perspective.

    Default Childhood Storybooks

    Hi,

One of the most important things that your child needs to learn is the habit of reading. With the digital age growing out of proportions, a lot of parents have neglected to educate their children with the use of the right reading materials. Most adults would allow their children to endlessly play video games or learn all their school lessons through the internet.

You know, we didn't have many books when I was a pre-schooler. We lived in the boonies in rural Canada. There were six of us kids and one box of toys...and I think the boys had a small bookcase of books, but we girls didn't have much. We did have this book all about leprechauns, fairies and wee folk of Ireland. I remember the stories pointing out how vain and greedy they were. I think I actually learned to be happy with less from that book.

HAHA These were some of my favourites too (athough I was past childhood when Road to Avonlea came out).
