Question How many rolls of masking tape do you own?

Okay, this is really bugging me. Not long ago I went through the house and rounded up all the rolls of masking tape I could find. It seems whenever we can't find it, we go buy more. To date I have found 9 rolls of the stuff!!! I put them all in one place and told DH we are not buying anymore! Honestly...office supplies is one area we are out of control in this house due to poor organization.

Anyone else in this situation? How do you keep track of this stuff? Another bugaboo for us is staples. How many staples do you humanly need? I have 5 boxes of them!

What gets out of control at your house if you aren't careful? Is there something that just drives you nuts when you find several of it and there only needs to be one?

Honestly, DH and I are starting to give away office supplies on Full Circles.

We have the same problem with stuff. DH can't find something, so by the time he does he decides to hoard it in his office instead of putting it back. And then he looses it in his office. The cycle repeats. Tape, permanent markers, screwdrivers...

I do that with food stockpiles...Things that get pushed to the way back of the cabinets I don't see, and buy more of...then I'll find that I have like 10 of one item! Oh well it's better to have too much than not enough I guess!

Dh bought us two sets of stainless steel shelves that are in our laundry room. Each set has 5 shelves & measure 4 ft wide, 7 ft high, and 3 ft deep.

I have a single shelve dedicated just to misc. things like tape, scissors, markers, notepads, etc... On that shelf there are 36 shoebox sized rubbermaid boxes that each holds a designated item. For example, one is labeled "TAPE" and it has only tape in it; another is labeled "SCISSORS" and only has scissors in it; and so on and so forth.

I have another shelve that holds 8 sweater box sized rubbermaid boxes. One of these is labeled "FIRST AID", two are labeled EMERGENCY" and hold candles, flashlights, matches etc...The others have things like extension cords, gift bags, etc...

The other three shelves hold things like our safe, back-up laundry detergent, 12 lb bags of baking soda, etc... Basically things that do not fit neatly into a rubbermaid box but need to be stored in an orderly fashion.

We use the other set of the shelves primarily for food stuff, toilet paper, and H & B stock-ups. One shelf has only canned goods, one has boxed food items, one has H & B etc...I have lots of cabinet space in the kitchen, but for rotating and organizational purposes the shelves make for better storage of the stocked-up stuff.

Maybe one? I rarely use it. I can't think of anything off the top of my head that we buy multiples of due to lack of organization, but I *know* there must be something.

We only have one roll of masking tape...and only one roll of duct tape. But electrical tape is where we run into this problem. I could probably easily go out to the garage and find 10 rolls!

Most of the stuff stays organized on the workbench in the garage, but when it gets messy, that is when we start buying multiples of things!

My workshop is a mess and I sometimes need to buy tools that I already had - especially drill bits. Although, to be honest, I rarely find the ones that were lost so don't end up with multiples.

Food and office supplies are organized, labelled, sometimes even catalogued, and I always know what have and where it is. But the workshop is cold in the winter, and I don't know what the kids are up to when I go out there, so I tend to just run out and dump.

I don't have any masking tape.

Two rolls of masking tape. One in the kitchen to label containers. One on top of the kitty litter to seal up newspaper with kitty litter.

I get a little to excited when it comes to finding a good deal for the pantry. Right now I have enough soap, detergent, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, mouthwash, garbage bags, dishwasher detergent, dishwashing liquid, and razors to last a year or two. I have to stop myself from adding these items on my shopping list. LOL

probably 30 rolls of maskig tape. it does go bad...

i teach corset making and pattern fitting courses in the summer and go through a lot of masking tape making fitted patterns.

    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

2 rolls of scotch tape ( bought in a 3 pack)
3 rolls Duck tape ( each a different color)

I use to have tons of pens and pencils but not anymore. They were used up (as the children are higher is school they speed through them) that and the dog eats them if you leave them out.

Ok. I use different tapes in my business. I use duck tape (or other cloth tapes) and china markers/grease pencils to mark boxes. And since I color code the boxes, there are many rolls of various colors here, say 6?

I use removable tape to close book/magazine sleeves. I bought a case (144 rolls) about 10 years ago. I sold some of it and we're using the end of it, say 10 rolls?

I use packing tape to seal cartons/book mailers and that we only have 2 small rolls (1 in the car, 1 backup) and a large roll, 3 rolls.

Two rolls fiber tape for reinforcing cartons (2) and 1 roll of masking tape here and 1 roll of painter's masking tape DH uses for framing (2).

And, oh yeah, regular tape (1).

Total 24 rolls of tape. In this house, that's not many!

Staples: 1 box regular size in DH's office, 1 sm plastic jar w/smaller (tot) ones. I gave the farmstand the box industrial size I had for sealing cartons last year. I've also weeded our pen/pencil collection and file folder collection in the past year or two. Having had 2 complete offices (home and shop) and then making it into 1 greatly aids culling this stuff down, although I still have too many hanging file folders, I think.
