Default where i messed up this month

messed up financially a lot this month.

    1. graduation week i forgot the hectic schedule, and ended up in restaurants every day that week. spent 120 that wasn't budgeted.

    2. ended up ordering pizza hut because i chose not to buy a $3.50 tombstone pizza for the freezer. now, i know better. i chose not to pay $3.50 and ended up spending 22.00 for pizza delivery.

    3. minor home repairs (planned interior painting) ended up eating the rest of my savings deposit for the second paycheck of the month, so i didn't save any money for the new car replacement or freedom accounts second half of june.
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Good job at recognizing and admitting where the problems are coming from!

When I do my menu planning, I always sit down with my calendar at my finger tips so I can see what nights we are busy and need quick meals! We almost always have frozen pizzas and chicken patties and frozen fries in the freezer, for those nights when we don't have time to cook. While they aren't the tastiest dinners...they do save us money when I'm feeling like just running through a drive through!

I hope you have a better week next week!

Don't beat yourself up! You have identified what went wrong and why. NOW just put contingency plans in place so that they don't happen again.

I buy frozen cheese pizzas (generally 3) when they are on sale and keep them on hand at all times. I noticed that they go on sale on some sort of store schedule. They are $3.66 each now. So they will go down to 3/$10 in the next couple of weeks. I always have all the extra fixins on hand. I always have other quick to fix stuff around. This is where my stockpile comes in handy!

My husband is NOTORIOUS for asking his parents and/or daughter over and not telling me. I generally find out when they knock on the door. I can always whip up a meal for 5-7 people in 30 minutes or less with little or no notice.

I also have gotten in the habit of keeping all sorts of fast food/restaurant coupons in my purse. I usually end up throwing them away when they expire, BUT when we do fall off the wagon and end up eating out it always has to be something I have a coupon for.

Also the teenage girl next door is working at an upscale burger place that is fairly reasonable. The last two times we were in there, we used a coupon AND she gave us an additional discount - WOO HOO!

Everyone has slip-ups, but not everyone learns from them. Good for you, ladykemma2, for recognizing where you went wrong and learning from it! Tank you also for sharing with us. We may have made the same mistakes and not realized it.

I just want to say BRAVA to you for seeing where you can fix things. I think recognizing what we can do better only helps us to be better about things.

I'm right there with you this week. We've ate at home once this week so far and will probably eat out today while we are doing last minute errands for the wedding tomorrow. Do I feel bad about it? Nope. With working 12 hour shifts and getting ready for the big day it has been a load off of my mind and body and to me worth every penny. Our bills are paid and we had the extra money. Yes we could have put it in the bank where it belongs, but I really really needed the break. So don't sweat it. We all have situations where we spend the money where we don't normally spend it.

i bought cheap laundry detergent that didn't dissolve in cold water. not again. i wasted energy, water, resources, money in having to use warm or hot water or rinsing it twice.

I think it is great that you sat down and figured out where you went wrong. That is the first step and now you know what to do so it doesn't happen again. We all mess up once in a while!

Try heating some water up in the microwave and dissolving the detergent in that first if you still have some left, it might help.
