Developing an accurate budget takes time. First you need to figure out where your money is going, and that means sitting down and writing down every penny you spend, every day, for at least 30 days.

Then you add it all up and look at what you're spending in each category, and figure out where you're spending too much, where you can cut, where you need to spend more, etc.

Then for about 30 more days you refine the budget every day...

After about 3 months you'll have a good budget that doesn't need to get adjusted often at all.

There are plenty of people who can help you with it here, too.

    I've used these before.

The "Daily Expense Workbook" is great for helping you track your spending and the "Sample Budget" wasn't too bad either.

I agree with Greebo.........until you know where your money is going it will be hard to 'set a budget' no matter what you use....or read.

    Record it..........then go from there.

Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing!

Dave Ramsey has helped millions of people get out of debt. You can probably find his books at the public library and lots of information on his web site: http://www.daveramsey.com/.

crownfinancial.org will help you track expenses and shows you the results of pre paying but you do have to track where you spending and no form can do this. Get a notebook and start listing you bills. I use a 2" binder w/ clear pages. The actual "to be paid " bills can be slipped in the pockets. You need a file cabinet too if you don't have one. Make a folder for each category and alphabetize.

http://www.mint.com with that site you put your bank info in and it will show you where everything is going. you might have to tweak the info a bit but after a few months it should work fine.
