    Default Using what you have.

My kids have had the gimmes for some time and I get upset with them.

I have started a walking program now. I do need proper shoes, my shoes are old and worn(by me and 2 others...sigh).

This is an acceptable expense and want/need. Feet are important.

Now, walking i get bored with. Everyone has told me music is the key to longer walking periods.

Now I don't have a walkman, or mp3. I was set on getting one, it was $80. But I realize that my cellphone, it is a sony with MP3. Not a big memory, but that is ok. But the earbuds killed me. So I invested $14 in a set of in earphones, and it is like a dream!

Much better than $80. And more convenient since I always have my phone with me. The earphones can slip into my purse, so there when I want them. Convenient.

SO I multi-purposed my phone. It is good sound and is only a couple months old(free with contract). So why not? I'm not a big music junky that I need 20G of space. Give me a couple hours worht of music and I'm fine to change it weekly or monthly or whenever I feel like it.Also using the phone, it'll interupt when it rings, so I know I'm not missing calls, where an mp3, is a second thing to carry, and I won't necessarily hear the phone.

I agree...it's so worthwhile to try to figure out ways to use what you have, rather than buying something new.

Along the same lines, but different, I had two painting jobs to do this week: the basement and the master bathroom. I desperately wanted some new colors, but when I went to the basement, I realized we had the original bathroom paint and plenty of paint left over from 5 years ago when we moved in, from other rooms. So, I used the bathroom paint and touched up the bathroom, and used paint from the foyer for the basement. It looks so clean and fresh and I didn't spend a cent!

I will work the phone, and MIL and FIL will be looking for b'day and CHristmas ideas, so maybe I'll leak that suggestion to them, they can do gift card for an electronics place.

But the phone has great sound being a sony. So I don't know, i will need to see what it can store and how long the battery lasts with it playing, I have a feeling it'll kill it pretty quick

I totally agree...thats a great job. I always wondered why cell phones had cameras and mp3 players etc etc but I guess its on that odd chance that someone may use it? I just want a phone to be that but in your case, it worked out great! Good job on saving $$$! Now you can justify buying brand new shoes - not just new to you - which would be better for your feet/legs/hips/back

When I joined the gym a long while back, I knew I didnt have any workout clothes. I had 2 tee's, 1 track short and 1 sports bra. Upon my many bouts with decluttering/purging I came across a garbage bag of clothes that I started for donation. I found a lot of sporty tee's and shorts that still fit and weren't TOO big. All I had to do was buy a few more sports bras. Saved me from having to buy clothes for the gym!

very smart using what you have and saving money on useless extra items.

I too try to find ways to use what I have without buying more. We buy some much stuff in this world it is just plain silly...just for entertainment value mainly.

    good move!!!!!

I have this phone also.....even "music" people are amazed at the quality of the sound....the newer model has a better camera making this phone the phone of choice for me because I don't have a camera!

you go girl and thanks for sharing
