Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Some days yes, some days no. I'm trying.........I'm REALLY trying! But it seems I'm one step forward, one step back, and it's frustrating! :\

I think it's a summer thing. Our routine is out of whack. lol
I have definitely not been as frugal as I should.
We are debt free, so I think, in my mind, I keep rationalizing my spending lol. I definitely need to be adding more to the savings and watching my spending more closely.DJ

With taking care of my dad & trying to get camping in for all the grands, before school starts, I'm slacking, too. My biggest-is clothes drying--I'm using the dryer! And what beautiful days we've had to hang outside. Onward & upward!!

We're teetering on the end of the wagon, but I keep grabbing the bumper and hope that I don't hit any more bumps.
I'm ashamed to admit that I spent $60 on a haircut and some product because my hair is insane short now and needs daily attention. I needed the haircut, but I think I could have done better with the product purchase (albeit, this product stuff works awesome in my hair even after it dries).
I think I could have done better with the kids school shopping, but I did save for the last few months to make it happen. I forgot that I still need to pay school fees, which are covered in my slush fund, but I also have a new niece to buy for pretty soon. Our bill paying has also gotten a little lax lately and we've been eating out, but we're working really hard on cutting down on that. It's down to about once every two weeks now as opposed to four times a week!Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

Um, yeah... I am on the edge and any of those bumps will toss me right off.
We had a streak of really hot weather and we went out to eat more during it. We always do. I forgot to budget that in.Beak-1996, Toad-1998, and Q-1998

I fell off the wagon and whacked my head.

We moved (and had moving expenses), then "fixing up" the new place expenses. Things like new area rugs, bookshelves, new bathroom accessories, new dishes....I went a little crazy.
I compromised with my DH to have a much smaller vacation then he was planning. It was still $4000.
Then we bought a used car for $1500. (No transit at our new place). We felt good because we knew the owners and the history. After the unexpected repairs it's now a $3500 car.
And now there are changes at work coming up and we will be earning $2000 less every month.
We still have no debt - but we don't have much else!
I've started the "Till Debt Do Us Part" jar system for the month of August. It's working well so far. It has to. I'm now between a jar and a hard place!

Nah, I didn't fall of the wagon the last two months -- I yelled "Yee-HA!" and took a flying leap. I have been frugal a long time, I reached a seriously major savings goal, and decided in cold blood that I was going to cut down the savings for a month or two and get, finally, every color of ink for my pens that I wanted. (Well, not the gorgeous $9 an ounce brand - even color junkies have to have some limits.) In the end, it was a LOT of ink, and it isn't cheap. I also bought some new but extremely inexpensive pens. Just for me. Just because I've been good for so long. But the party's over and I'm back to real life.
But, oh, how I love my ink! And it's bound to be a lifetime supply. No regrets. It was planned. But time to buckle down again.Donna

Don't feel like you're the only one. We've fallen off the wagon too. We've eaten out more times in the last 2 weeks than over the previous 6 months. I hope it's just a passing phase.

I seem to be sliding a bit. Bought lunch out twice this week. So I need to stop now. I did remember that I had ice cream and milk at home to make a milkshake. Does that count? LOL

I had an off day today - usually I am spot on with not purchasing anything we don't absolutely need, and today I spent half the grocery budget on non-groceries! I guess it happens, and we just have to do our best to put ourselves back on the wagon.
BTW - that was after spending the other half of the monthly grocery budget on groceries last week. Now it's less than halfway through the month and we are out of grocery money. I feel so bad, but it's sadly good to know I am not the only one. Does that sound weird?Last edited by Shelli_wnj; 08-08-2009 at 09:18 PM.
