Default I Must Be Living Under A Rock re Going to Movies

DH & I decided to take the boys to a movie this past Friday. Last movie we saw in a theater was the first Transformers movie since we usually borrow dvds from the library, etc.

    Matinee tickets were $6.50 each x 4, ok that's alright I say, it's been a while..

Popcorn was $6.50 for a large bag plus 1 refill (gone is the bottomless popcorn deal). Ok, I say, it's been a while...

I look up at the prices for soda and just about fell over! $4.50 for a SMALL drink?? Oh my goodness, even DH's jaw was on the floor! LOL! $4.50 for a bottle water.

We drank water at the fountain (wasn't even cold sheesh) and ate our popcorn dry.

It may seem cheap not to buy the sodas? Just felt like hands were in my pocketbook and I just HAD to say NO! that's crazy pricing for sodas!!

It was nice & cool in the theater on a hot/humid day and it was a nice change of pace.

It was eye opening for sure! LOL

We eat before we go,if we go. My kids are adults (16/18) so full price tickets $40. We never and I mean never buy the snacks.Until they sell food I won't be either.

    It is crazy isn't it?

Our cheapest time is $7 so I seldom go to movies any more. Would rather stay home, make my own snacks, and watch on DVD and think of the money I am saving while doing that.

Now, I save my movie money for going to hockey games. They even have 'buck night' at our hockey games......soda = $1....hot dogs for a buck and popcorn for a buck.

I don't even remember the last time I went to a movie theater. Probably at least 3 or 4 years ago.

We have a dollar theater here. Which is packed! There are 4 choices in what to watch. I don't buy snacks I eat before we come, when we come which isn't very often. I would rather borrow video from libarary.
The last movie I did see was Harry Potter 1/2 blood Prince. DD wanted to go so it was a special summer thing for us.
What amazed me was how rude people were. Talking throught the whole movie. Phones ringing and people tested. Sure you can't hear it but the lite screen is distracting. When we left I mentioned to DD (15) how badly the theater stunk. She said its cause the boys will pee in the last row so they don't have to get up and misss any of the movie.
YUCK!!! I'm never going back even if they give popcorn and sodas away. Can't beileve people would act this way in a public place.

I took the 3 kids to see G-Force which had the $3 3-D fee attached to each persons ticket. It cost me $42 for me and the 3 kids to get in. Add the popcorn to that and I told them that we'll just be waiting for the library to get the movies from now on. Yikes!

We seldom go to the movies. We wait until we can get them for $1 at Red Box or they come out on cable. We can watch in the comfort of our own home with drinks and popcorn for a fraction of going to the movie.

Movie ticket prices and snacks are so over the top!! We did have a "cheap" movie theater open here a few months back so we can see movies for $3...they are older movies but that is ok since we don't see them when they first release at the expensive theaters anyway!!

I think the prices are outrageous! And it's a real shame because i love to go tothe movies but for the money I could do something like go to the Zoo or the water park for an entire day.

I have gone to the movies twice since 1990. Hubby hates going and to be truthful we would rather sit home and watch them. Not as much noise and the snacks are a lot cheaper too.

I haven't been to the movies, like forever. Those prices are robbery. It's a rare occasion here.
