    Default Frugal Hair

Does this count as frugal: For years I have had my hair highlighted blonde (I used to actually be blonde). I finally got so fed up w/the beauty shop prices that I had my hair reverse highlighted (dark blonde/brown) close to my natural color. I went to a cheaper beautician to have this done. I am hoping I can now just be my natural color and NOT have to deal w/the highlighting any more. And if I change my mind in the future I can highlight at home with a kit.
Anyway this saves me $50 every 3 months.

My wife cuts my hair and I color hers. I figure we save sixty dollars a month. It sounds as if you have a great plan.

I think it definitely counts as frugal! Great job! It's always good to be happy with your natural self, anyway.

As a COMPLETE frugalite, I cut my own short, sporty hair-do and the color Mother Nature has supplied me with (more salt than pepper) is perfect for my age and skin tone.

In order to REALLY save money, I budget and pay myself $20 a month for the task of cutting my own hair and put the money in the Emergency/Christmas Savings Account. If you don't put that so-called "saved" amount in an account, it's essentially spent on something else..... SAVINGS are SAVED - not spent, interesting concept.

As soon as hubby's barber retires (they were childhood friends), I'll cut his hair as well.

I cut hubby's and my youngest hair they like a close crop cut quick with the electric shaver. My oldest likes his hair cut from a shop when we have coupons for under 9 dollars he gets it cut. As for mine my sister did beautitian for a while until she realize she made more money doing something else so she cuts my hair and i do her laundry for a week. As for color i spend 5.00 every 6wks store bought stuff from walmart and kid's plastic water color paint brushes 20 for 1.00 at dollar store and instant highlights.

as long as you are happy w/ the results, i definitely think its frugal! if you are unhappy, then you may have to rethink it. i can tell you that the girl who cuts my hair ($55 every 6 wks) says that since the receission started, she has done more color "redo's" than ever - ie - people try it themselves or go somewhere cheaper, and hate it! hope that is not your case. just an fyi.

i personally stopped low-lighting my hair. it was only $40 every 8 wks, but, unnecessary. i have very few grays and my natural color is fine and gets lots and lots of highlights in the summer naturally!

I am pretty satisfied w/ the natural color. I was afraid that I would run back to the blonde highlights , but so far I am liking this. I hope I wont have to go back to the beautician for quite awhile. I have a pair of hair cutting scissors and I can trim my own bangs.

Haven't had a salon hair-cut for 12 years. I cut my own (short, medium and long) and have never coloured it.

I colored my own hair for years. Even when I had a lot of money, I thought the price that beauty shops wanted were outrageous! I stopped coloring my hair about a year ago. I have kept it short for years and now it is salt and pepper colored.

I stepped down from paying $24 plus tip every 2 months to $14 plus tip every 2 months for a haircut. Hubby is asking me to cut his hair; so that will be a savings also.

at least 2 x a year i go in and get mine cut at frist choice. especially when Im trying to get to that longer hair stage. and then i cut it myself after that and try to keep it trimmed. But mostly I leave it longer on top with longer wisps around the face and bangs layered and top and shoter along back and sides. I have thicker corse hair.
I color my own. I havent colored for about 4 months now and i can see only a little darker not much in diff new growth. i got it pretty well the exact color.
