My Financial Emmancipation Proclamation
I want to put together a short statement that succinctly summarizes my financial philosophy. Whenever someone asks me why I live a certain way, I'd like to just be able to whip out a few lines that are all prepared.
Have you ever put your financial philosophy into writing, or even into sentence form? What kinds of things did you include? How do you use this philosophy? Do you look at it every so often? Share it with others? Keep it private?
I want to include something about how sacrifice leads to freedom, and how materialism doesn't really bind me much anymore. What else would go into a statement like this?Spiritual:
"You are fearfully and wonderfully made." Please... respect life.
Financial:
Debt free, hoping to stay that way!
MY BLOG: glorybug.wordpress.com
1. Keep on writing.
2. Get some balance in my life.
3. Lose weight. Hopefully 5# this year. (9.5 pounds right now! Yay, Me!!)
4. Continue to be looking for how God wants to use me this year.

I hereby proclaim that I, being of sound mind (most of the time), do promise myself to incur no new debt, to live within my income, to be generous to my church and those in need, and to rejoice in the freedom from materialistic tyranny.
This is a start to my statement. I'll be tweaking it as time goes by. Any other ideas?
What would your statement be for yourself?Spiritual:
"You are fearfully and wonderfully made." Please... respect life.
Financial:

I think this is a very interesting, and neat idea. I'll have to think about it awhile.

I honestly think that debt is bondage or slavery. That's why I titled this as I did.

"You are fearfully and wonderfully made." Please... respect life.

Oh, I SO agree that it is! I got myself into slavery though, and now I need to make the decision to get myself out, because once you're in it, it's SO hard to get out! But I'm trying....love what you said here: and to rejoice in the freedom from materialistic tyranny. and this part just cracked me up, because I can SO relate, being of sound mind (most of the time), [LOL]

I guess I would have to say something similiar to Dave Ramsey.....I am living like no-one else now, so I can live like no-one else later.
When the world knocks you to your knees, remember that your in the perfect position to pray.

~I've always liked "Vanity of vanities, all is vanity" and let them scratch their heads for awhile.
Hope you find an eloquent way that fits your ideals and style.
