This is my VERY first loaf of bread made in the machine.. I think I messed up the ingredients, (it said you had to put it in a certain order) and I didn't AND I don't think I added enoguh yeast... Oh well I'll learn!

Okay, that made me laugh. A breadmaker is on my Christmas list again this year.
Let me know when it gets done so I can have a piece.

I hope your bread turned out! Try different recipes, tweak the ones you have and you will be very happy.
Grainlady recommended using Louana coconut oil instead of butter or oil and honey instead of brown or white sugar. It made my already delicious bread out of the world!
I make a loaf in my breadmaker about twice a week. I am an early bird; so I start one after I make my coffee.
I found the Louana coconut oil at Walmart. I just noted yesterday that my Kroger started carrying it also.Mary

I start a sponge (batter) for 100% whole wheat bread in my bread machine at 6 p.m., let it sit overnight, and finish the dough at 6 a.m. But anyway you make it, I LOVE my Zojirushi Bread Machine and make ALL my bread dough in it. However, I never bake in it - because I'm such a bread control freak..... I just like to let it do the hard work (LOL).

We must live in a parallel universe.... I noticed Louana coconut oil at Dillons (now owned by Kroger) yesterday and it was less expensive than Wal-Mart! WOO HOO!

WAY TO GO! But that's a tough lesson to learn.
When you cut into a loaf that hasn't completely cooled (about one hour), you will destroy the crumb of the loaf, and it will get a doughy or crumbly texture.
I've made so many loaves of bread that I am no longer tempted to cut into it. Set a timer for 1-hour if you need a little control devise. Or go outside and do something to take your mind off the fresh-baked bread.
For a newbie, I'd suggest the book Bread Machines for Dummies by Glenna Vance and Tom Lacalamita. GREAT beginner information and instruction, and I've never had a failed recipe out of this book. It's my favorite book out of the 15 (or so) bread machine cookbooks I have. Check your local library for bread machine cookbooks.
