Just got my first lot of bills thru...
.. and i am impressed with my hard work

Billing date from 5-Jun-2009 to 11-Aug-2009
spent on electricity - £23.80
spent on gas - £16.12
i have a direct payment to each Gas - 35/mth and Elec 25/mth
My bill covers 2 months and i haven't even used one months direct payment and because of this i am +80.00 on my bills already

I am aiming to get the next bill down lower for the electric but the gas will go on the rise as i am close to putting the heating on - i havent had to put it on since i got it installed almost 12 weeks ago. I am trying to hold out as long as possible not to use it but im not going to freeze in order to keep it low. The extra credit will be like a cushion so i dont have to worry about overspending
We didnt actually move in until mid july but before that we didnt use much elec/gas as we were jsut moving stuff over.

Great plan! We are like you, we keep the heat off. In fact I don't turn on the heat until November, and off in April. But we have a wood heater too. WOod we get for free. So it off sets. We do heat water with gas. I am looking into solar heating water, but I'm thinking we are way too far north for that.

Good job! Just bundle up! Think layers!!
I LIVE in fleece in the winter so I can keep my heat down. Have a king size fleece blanket (it was same price as twin....so GO BIG!) that I wrap up in when I sit down and my chair has heat.
I know about the 'cave' part too.........I try to wait until Oct. to turn on my heat but don't always make it. I don't mind wearing layers but I hate to freeze!!!

On cool mornings, try to get your baking done! Great way to warm you up, and it takes the edge of the cold off. May as well have that heat doing something useful while it warms you.

Wow! You have done a great job. I don't think we could get our bills that low. We don't turn our heat on until Nov. either, but this year might be different, new baby in Oct. We will see. We have an outdoor woodburner, and get free wood, and heat our hot water with it, and it really helps.
As far as electric, I try to keep things turned off as much as possible.
Keep up the good work.2010 Challanges:
