Help! Baby Question!
My mom is gone, so I can't ask her.
My baby has a diaper rash so bad it is bleeding. I called the doctor and he told me to use Aquaphor. I did that. It didn't help. I used the Aquaphor and then followed it with Bert's Bees. No help. So I tried the first two with powder. No help.
What can I do for this rash? It is bleeding and nothing anyone is suggesting is helping

I just looked up how to treat diaper rash at home. Do you have cornstarch, aloe vera or oatmeal. Once you clean the baby's bottom if you let the air get to the area that helps. You could rub aloe vera on the affected area and also powder with corn starch or bath the baby in a oatmeal bath. If it spreads or doesn't heal it could be a yeast infection and need to see a doctor, I hope this helps

Desitin is old but it is good. If it dosen't work the only other thing I can tell you is what worked on my oldest once. Same thing. Sores on her butt and little bits of bleeding. Scream like she was dying. Course to her she felt like she was.
I laid her on the floor on a rubber sheet under a regular sheet. No diaper period. Total air on the butt. Have alot of sheets etc ready for when she pees to change into. Stick her but under running water so there are no traces of urine to burn her. Lay her down naked again on clean dry sheets.
Took about 2 days with mine. Hers was so bad it left little scars for a long time. Doctor said she took a spell where she was alergic to her own urine.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. If the normal diaper rash stuff isn't working, it could be a yeast infection. I would make her an appointment with the doc.

My first thought was that's it's a diaper rash that has then been attacked by yeast. MD can give you nystatin cream, I have used (I AM NOT A DOCTOR) gynelotrimin cream followed by desitin and then the lie on a sheet with no covering. My now 2yo had a rash like this and the above treatment worked in about 2 days. If she's miserable a trip to the doc might be a good thing for both of you.

My oldest son used to get rashes like that all of the time. I couldn't use store bought wipes on him, they were just too harsh.
This is what I would do to get the rash under control. DO NOT USE WIPES while she is this raw. Take a soft wash cloth and just get it wet with warm water. Wipe (or blot, if its not poo) her clean very gently. Then take another dry wash cloth and blot her dry. Let her go without a diaper for as long as possible. Or put a cloth diaper on her (a white cotton t shirt wrapped around her bottom would work too, if you are just staying around the house.)
If you HAVE to leave the house and put her in a regular diaper, put as much cornstarch or Desitin on the area ~ only after its dry ~ as you can get on it. Leave no area exposed. As soon as you get home take that diaper off again and continue with wash clothes.
Once the rash is a little more under control, start using homemade wipes. Get a roll of the "Select a Size" papertowels and rip them all into the smallest size. Stack them into a plastic (sterilite, rubbermaid, etc....) tub the size of a shoe box (walmart has these for .97). Fill the tub up half way. In a pitcher combine 2 quarts of hot water with 1 cup of baby oil and 2 T of baby shampoo. Stir it up really well. Pour half of the solution over the paper towels. Add more papertowels on top until the tub is full and pour the rest of the solution over it. Cover the tub & let sit for 24 hours.
I used these exclusively at home. I would keep a small container of store bought wipes in the car and using them only occasionally worked ok for his bottom. But we couldn't use them for every diaper change.
I hope this helps.~Jessica

Wesley had horrible diaper rash like that once after he had a rotten little bout of diarreha. The first thing I did was put a little bit of neosporin with pain reliever on the parts that were bleeding to provide him a bit of relief.
Then, once we were sure the diarreha was ALL gone, we let him air out for quite some time. After that we switched to the A & D ointment, not the cream. After that, he didn't have anymore problems.
Hope your litte one gets better, it's hard to see them in pain!McD

My youngst had diaper rash so bad all the time. A couple things. NO WIPES EVER EVER EVER. Warm soft washclothes. I got this stuff called Bag balm. It is a green tin with cows on it. It literally is something they used and may still to keep the udders soft on cows. It is greasy but it works. It is very affordable and a tin lasts a long time. I know they have it at Costco, walgreens and walmart. Some places keep it behind the pharmacy counter. Some keep it on the shelf. I would ask the pharmacist and I am sure they can direct you. She also had bad exzema on her face as a baby and I used that stuff on her face when she went to bed or took a nap and it worked awesome. I think its less then 5.00 a tin and worth its weight in gold. Also mine couldnt wear alot of kinds of diapers. The perfumes etc. in them were to much for her. I had to be very careful about that. Interestingly the more expensive the diaper the worse she tolerated them. Pampers and Luvs were the worst. She/he may indeed also have a yeast infection. Check with the dr. for sure. Good luck.

I second the Nystatin ointment that was mentioned before. DD gets a rash every few months and it works like a charm. We get 2 tubes for about $10 at the pharmacy.

I am pregnant with my 5th and from my experience if it is just a diaper rash the no diaper plan works the best. Also no baby wipes. Use a soft wash cloth and pat her dry afterwards. Good Luck I know how hard it is to see your baby hurting.

Sounds like either yeast or an allergic reaction to the wipes or diapers (my oldest couldn't wear disposables at all).
I agree with the no diaper at all for as long as possible. . . and yogurt spread on the area, just like any diaper cream. . . and feed it to her if she's old enough to have it.

Warm, wet paper towels for wiping purposes. Then, we'd gloop on the Balmex. GLOOP it on. That's what worked for us with the really bad rashes.

Air to the butt! And plain live culture yoghurt on a warm moist cloth. If it's yeast that'll help a bit.

If it is yeast, air like the vail said and women's vaginal cream for yeast infections. My oldest suffered awful from yeast infections and those creams always cleared it up. I used to wrap his diaper around him like a skirt so he could get air. Fed him yogurt.
I hope yor little one feels better soon.~~~
