Frugality and my boyfriend...
I realized last night while shopping that my boyfriend sometimes thinks of frugal ideas when I'm not even paying attention. We were shopping for christmas ornaments and we decided we wanted glass ones. We'd looked in several stores and found that most of the ones we liked were not nessisarily expensive but just more then we'd like to pay. We decided that we wanted sparkly/glittery ones in different colors. We found a couple boxes of ones we liked but then my boyfriend wanders off. I find him a couple aisles over with a box of plain ornaments (same color and size of the glittery ones we were going to buy, just without glitter) that were 1/4 the price of the glittery ones. He says to me "Can we just buy glitter and decorate these ones ourselves?". This was something I never even thought of. I looked the ornaments over and sure enough their 100% the same as the glittery ones we saw. So we bought 3 boxes of the plain ones and we're going to buy some glitter and decorate them ourselves. Now not only are they cheaper but they'll be one of a kind!!

Hey thats great!
Frugal and encourages QT together...bust out the festive tunes and bevvy of choice and glitter away! Just be sure to make sure your work area isn't drafty and you line your table with news paper for easy clean up afterwards.

We used to repair scratched ornaments this way too.
You can put metallic tinsel in clear ones and write the persons name on it in glitter and it looks awsome. I wonder if you could make the tinsel w/ a paper shredder if you had the kind that would do staples??

He's a keeper! It sound like a fun project too. How about a photo when you finish - of the ornaments and you, with the glitter under your fingernails, all over your face, in your hair... oh, that's ME when I use glitter.
Have fun.Donna

Note the title. This is the boyfriend.
Now if this was about her husband of 20 years... THEN I'd be impressed!

But it sounds like a really nice way to get ready for Xmas!
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

What a smart sweetie you have!! Even Greebo is impressed!!
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.
