    Default I've got a goal.

Ok so for awhile now I've had this goal that I want to accomplish. I want to own my own Homestead. Build everything from scratch, if possible and live off the land as best I can. My boyfriend is with me on this dream and wants to help anyway he can.

Now I just need help. Is this possible? How can I go about doing this? I know it's going to take a long time to save up money and getting it all ready. But what do I have to do to prepare for this?

    Any help would be awesome!

I'd start learning as many basic skills as possible while paying off debts (if you have any?) and saving up for the land.

Can you sew? Can? Garden? Do you have any carpenter skills? What kind of "off the grid" technology are you familiar with? Will you use solar power? Will you dig a well?

Sounds like a GREAT goal! I'm sure there are lots of FV'ers who have loads of info on this! Wishing you all the best! Keep us posted!

Check out [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Encyclopedia-Country-Living-Fashioned-Recipe/dp/0912365951"]"Country Living"[/ame] by Carla Emery. Amazing stuff in there you might want to know about before going ahead. helps to have as many skills under your belt as you can before you buy I'd think. Work on developing practical skills and purchasing useful tools (like pressure canner, sewing machine, carpenter's tools, plumbing tools, etc.)

There is a section of the forum called "Survival and Preparedness".
Lots of good information there. You can get there with this
    link:

    [ame="http://www.frugalvillage.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=171"]Preparedness and Survival - Frugal Village Forums[/ame]

Once you get there, there is a post about the best books on
this subject. Luv2BeFrugal's advice is so important. You will
have to read as much as you can to learn what it takes and
then you will have to start learning the skills and saving. It
is good to see you are so young. Don't let this dream slip
    away from you!

Here is the link to the books post:

[ame="http://www.frugalvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122475"]If you had to choose only one - Frugal Village Forums[/ame]

Report in once in awhile and let us know how you are doing
and what you are learning! Many of the people here are very
skilled in sewing, canning, gardening, cooking, etc. If you
have questions as you go along, there will always be
    someone to help you.

    Best of luck to you!!
You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need.

If you can't tell, I share your dream <says "wanna_homestead">.

I like this site - maybe it will be of some use to you:

I enjoyed the "Look Before You Leap" article.

    Blessings to you!!
"Don't look at your current situation as a hindrance to living the way you want, because living the way you want has nothing to do with how much land you have or how much you can afford to spend on a new house. It has to do with the way you choose to live every day and how content you are with what you have."
