Question How do you fight a defeatist and/or victim attitudes?

So my bad day has me trying to not let it defeat me not make me feel like a victim. It started me wondering how others do this.

Lets face it, life through all us curves every now and then - a car needing repairs, pay cut, etc the list can go on. Sometimes we all feel like Murphy and his brothers have come to stay.

So how do YOU keep from letting it get you down or feeling defeated?

    What works for YOU?

I'm gonna have to go with booze.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

My feet propped up with a cold beer in hand.

    Then I do some

How much worse could it really be? I could be living in a shelter with nothing to eat.

I guess the setback or whatever got me down was minor in comparison.

Either that or get MOVING and get some exercise or get something accomplished.

I have a lot of little ways that I cope with this. In no particular order:

I wear my prettiest underpants on my worst day. Hard to feel bad for yourself when your underpants make you feel smoking hot.

I watch shows like Intervention, Hoarders, etc. Those shows highlight people with true problems--much worse than whatever I've got going on in my life.

And I snuggle with my babies for a few hours. Nothing can be too bad when I've got my sweet healthy babies, right?

Maybe a disaster movie will help. LOL
Maybe I'll watch Life after Armageddon on the history channel. Life would be/is much better than that. Although with the weather I think I might skip the Movie Day After Tomorrow hits to close to home today.

And you know, sometimes you just have to let yourself have a little hissy fit and blow off the steam. Be angry, be irate, be furious - off by yourself for a bit.

Then go about the business of thinking 'ok wha'ts the real worst case scenario here' and follow that with ' and if that happens I'll do what?' - and then at least you'll have a plan for the worst.

Pretty underpants. Shows even little things can help one feel better.

Can I hug your sweet babies? Mine are acting teenagerish today and not to cuddly.

    I can't play the victim. I just can't.

We all make choices in our lives, and so wherever I am, even if it is a bad place, I realize it is a result of choices I have made somewhere along the way.

I have a big, huge issue with people playing the blame game and not taking responsibility for their own lives.

And, like Nichole said...wearing pretty panties never hurts.
