build a cob home for $10,000
These are two videos I took and pushed up to youtube. All of these buildings are made of cob in oregon. One of the largest buildings is the very last one and they told me it was built for a total cost of $10,000.

~The last house, the "showplace" is really great! It would be a fantastic vacation home or writer's retreat.
Thanks for the videos, I enjoyed them.

Mud.
But it has to be a mud that is just the right mix of sand, clay and straw.
So while it is a stiff mud, you stack it up. And then when it dries, it is very cement-like.
I once saw a DVD featuring about eight homes made by eight people, each of whom took a three day workshop and then went and built their own home out of cob. These were all people that had no previous building experience. I thought it was pretty cool.

Thanks Paul for the clarification. When I looked at the video the homes looked like adobe to me. When I was young we lived in Texas so I saw alot of adobe. I also lived in Oregon some too. I am intrigued about this village and how the people live. I plan on perusing your site later. Thanks again.
