Just for today & only today what did YOU do that was penny pinchin'', savin a dollar, savin the earth, meal stretchin'', pat on the back normal routine habit-idea-or a good ole'' courtesy that will give us an ""ah-ha" lightbulb moment~~
I'll start... took frozen HM chicken broth out for crockpot soup & cleaned the vegetables on newspaper, visited highschool friend I haven't seen in about 10 years-took her a pair of my HM mittens, dranked ice tea wishing I had Diet Coke, no spend day except for car fuel. Hung my clothes on the line for the first time this year..Instead of turning the heat up because I've been freezing all day I microwaved my rice pack that I made a couple of years ago to warm me up..I actually use my rice pack on a daily basis..I love it!

Mahalo - fun thread - just for today we can do anything!!

After our yard sale, I packed everything I had left in boxes for the rummage sale at the Catholic Church. No need to save anything for the next yard sale - I still have plenty to get rid of!!

Really wanted DH to go to the drive through for easy meals, but we ate everything from home!!

DH and I need to go to Kauai on Friday for a funeral - airfares are ridiculous - would have been over $600 for the two of us. Figured out we could use our accumulated miles for most of the trip, so it's only costing us $140. Big help there!!

Couponing like everyday. Recycling like everyday. Had DS catch a ride w/ a friend. Rented a movie instead of going to one. Made dinner at home. Will clip our pets nails tomorrow for free. Just like always. Skipped going to the S.A. to poke around because I don't need anything. Got a ton of free coupons instead of buying papers. Frugal is the usually state here.

We cashed in 2 of our coin jars, got $305 (it's been 2 yrs since we cashed in our change), pay for our new veg planters (bricks, compost, dirt, plants & seeds), stockpiling the freezer & a few regular grocery items. All these & not touching my weekly grocery money, so I am saving this week allowance for stockpiling.

Went to the Habitat for Humanity Restore to check out some remodeling materials for BF, going to convince him to buy there in lieu of Lowes.

Wanted to go to the movies, but talked myself into a nice dinner in with the new BBC America Series. For dinner had Hotwings from Chicken drumettes that were on Clearance.

Needed something to make the closet smell better and decided on the dollar bag of potpourri in lieu of the nice cedar hangars. Then made a bag to hold in it out of an extra fat quarter I had.

And made the firm resolution that I WILL move out into a place that I own when my lease is up the first week of August.

I will need to start scrimping every single penny I can until then. I will also need all the luck I can get too!

-I skipped going to Wal-Mart this morning because of snow, so that will ALWAYS save money (LOL)!

-Made a large batch of sausage balls to store in the freezer for breakfasts. I used a 50/50 combination of sausage and homemade ground sausage-flavored gluten to stretch the meat and save money.

-Took the clothes off the line in the basement, folded and put them away. We do two loads of laundry on Saturday night while watching TV and hang them in the drying room in the basement, and I take it down Sunday morning.

I like using the indoors lines better than outdoors anymore. Your clothes last a lot longer when you don't dry them in the fabric-destroying and color-fading sun, or let them get beat to death by the wind. Putting up 6 lines in the basement and a ceiling fan to provide the "wind" was one of the best ideas we've ever had!!! Never have to worry about weather conditions....

-We put an insulated blanket (cover) on the water heater. I found one in the clearance items at Wal-Mart last week ($15 - regularly $24).

-Made up a batch of Whole Wheat Sesame Seed Tortilla Dough and hubby got busy making the tortillas on the tortilla maker/baker. He usually goes out to work on Sunday morning, but he's home today because of the snow, so he needed a project. This is one kitchen task he actually likes to do. Now we'll have a nice stack of tortillas in the freezer.

Put a couple of drops of lavender oil in the vinegar and water solution to clean the floors. Also added some lavender oil in a potpouri in the bathroom.

Defrosting meat to put in crockpot tomorrow.

Made a grocery list and stayed with the bare minimum to stay on budget.

Opened up windows to help air out the place.

I'm about to make homemade chicken noodle soup that will be a dinner and a couple of lunches, I cleaned out some clutter, and didn't spend any money.

Wanted to eat out for breakfast, but made corned beef hash and eggs at home instead. Doing laundry in cold water and using homemade laundry detergent! Whoo hoo! Sipping on a cup of homemade Friendship Tea. Pulling out some leftovers from the fridge for supper. And, no money spent!

Oh this is an easy one - I stayed home LOL. Much easier to save money that way I made homemade lemonade, which I've been doing lately instead of buying frozen juice concentrates. The lemons I've been finding at the produce market are the size of oranges so it costs me about a dollar to make a little over 2 quarts of lemonade. We'll be eating leftovers from last night like we aways do. I clipped my sunday coupons like always....but I also called my parents and asked them to include their coupon-castoffs (my dad just doesn't use them when he shops for some reason) in a box they are shipping down to me later in the week. So, free coupons there.

The most un-frugal thing I've done today was while rinsing out a glass I used to "measure" the sugar for the lemonade (I still don't have freakin' mesuring cups, liquid or solid) it slipped from my hand and landed on the edge of another glass in the sink. Both glasses are now busted and I've got a nice cut on my hand to show for it. Ah well.

Let's see... Yesterday Dh & I were going to go out to eat on the way to our friend's house, but instead we ate the leftover pizza from his office's lunch! Woot! And, we both had the 'shopping bug' (grrr...I hate that)...but, instead of blowing tons of $$ we went to Savers. I got a shirt I can wear to school and he got some books he's been wanting (and they actually had there! Go fig!).

Also, I needed 1" elastic for the waistbands for pj pants I like to make out of old flannel/knit sheets that I get for 99cents. So, I used my 50% off JoAnn's coupon to get some.

--more 'free' tv & puter all afternoon...and a nap....
-snacks of homemade rice krispie treats & red hots from valentines clearance...
--load of laundry in cold...did throw in the dryer for short time (all undie items= they are a pain in the rear to hang & towels which i made a deal with dh to NOT hang...he can't stand them)..
--we didn't go anywhere, driving or walking, no spending....
--dinner for dh was chili made the other day & froze...lentil loaf from the freezer for me....
--overloaded dishwasher full and running at the moment but won't get unloaded til tomorrow...
--evening is more tv & puter til we fall blissfully asleep under our warm electric blanket with the heat set at 50.....

    what a rough, exhausting day.....lol
