    Default Unclaimed Property

Last night on the news, my state treasurer's office was doing a big push to get unclaimed property to their rightful owner's. Dh checked and he had a check from an old employer in 1998. The check was for $67.60 and he was really excited. Sadly, I didn't have anything.

So, I checked a friend's name and she had a credit balance from a doctor's office...turns out it was only $6.53, but you never know.

Here is a link to all of the different state's unclaimed property websites. NAUPA

Wouldn't it be neat if someone could find a small fortune? The news reported that someone claimed property worth $18,000 and that total property claimed during their newscast (over a 6 hour period) was over $170,000.

Also, make sure to check the names of your deceased relatives.

Sounds morbid, I know, but my mother-in-law found approximately $500 in unclaimed property of her father's, who had passed many years prior.

I was doing fine with this until I got to the part where I have to prove I lived at that particular address ~ we moved when I was 14 and I have NOTHING to prove I lived there ~ and this is NYS where NOTHING is easy.

Still trying to figure something out....

    School record archives.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Offer to do everything for him for a 25% finder's fee. All he has to do is sign where you tell him to sign.
